Default Brief Guide to Romaine Mission and Memory Alpha Crafting

Guide to Romaine Missioin to open crafting system.

1.- Talk to Admiral Quin and pick the Mandate Scientific mission, he send you to talk to Egg

2.- Talk to Egg, he give you a item for Romaine in Memory Alpha

3.- Go to Memory Alpha and talk with Romaine, she send you to introduce your data in database.

4.- Introduce your data in the nearby conical console, rear you.

5.- Complete your mission in Romaine.

6.- Now you have access to Romaine recipes, she have only the low tier recipes.

Memory Alpha Crafting System

In other MMOs you new recipes are in a UI window, in STO are in NPCs. You give the ingredients to NPC "buying" the new or upgraded item.

The crafting progression is through the Memory Alpha scientific officers ranks.

Progression:

Romaine ---> Low rank specialiced scientific officers (tactical, science, engineering) ---> High Rank specialiced scientific officers

In theory completing items you gain access to high rank scientifics.

How improve Memory Alpha (for devs)

-A progression bar for NPCs is needed.

-Add a bank, tailor, and exchague NPCs.

-Also Memory Alpha apparently is not complete, in example the Special room is empty.

Note: this has nothing to do with Star Clusters Exploration System, doing Lt. Grill Exploration missions you gain badges to buy items in Exploration vendors, Memory Alpha is for anomalies resources.

(sticky to this please, many people is confused)

I was one of those confused people. Thanks for making it a bit more clear.

How good are the recipes that are there? Are they the same ones from the scientist at the earth station that's next to Egg?

Another bump, asking for a progression bar.

That scientist has now moved to Memory Alpha and she's the first one you get to talk to now.

The thing which bugs me about the recipes from this crafting is that they don't stack with looted items that are otherwise identical.
E.g. I made 2 large hyposprays at memory alpha and they cannot be stacked with the 3 large hyposprays I already had on my character despite being identical in tooltip, effect and icon

So if I understand correctly, to get access to the better recipes I have to make low level ****, without knowing how much I need to make?

What kind of dumb system is that?

In theory, you'd be making things all the way from level 1. But, since Memory Alpha was opened up with a lot of folks at 16, there's a fair amount of catch up that needs doing, apparently.

I've made more upgraded photon launchers than I know what to do with.

You really call that a crafting system? You must be kidding. It's just a vendor where you turn in gathered stuff. To be fair, in most MMO's the result is the same: Collect stuff, put it together, get an item. But at least they try to give people the feeling of actually crafting something.

I haven't expected something like in SWG, not from Cryptic. But this is just a joke.
