Introduction

The 12th Fleet is a group of people preparing for the upcoming game Star Trek Online assembled from all around the world each bringing something to this community of friendly and fun Starfleet officers assigned to starbase Valhalla, an experimental space station along the Klingon/Federation border. An area filled with new challenges to overcome. These proud men and woman who have proven themselves time and time again in their respective fields will endeavour to uphold the fleets values and motto: Praecessi qua nemo has absentis pro and uphold the Constitution of the United Federation of Planets.

New members are asked to choose a division listed below based on their preference of what they would like to do when the game is out. Once they have done this they will be assigned to that division after graduating from the 12th Fleet academy (currently under construction)

Our focus

When the game goes live we will focus on a variety of things making it possible to do what interests you. Your wishes come first.

PVP: Take the fight to the enemy and participate in the organised events where we fight other fleets from the Klingon Empire in the neutral zone or where ever we might encounter them and show them that there will be no surrender, and no retreat.

PVE: Are you not the combat oriented type, fear not because we will set up raids, assist each other with group missions and advice. You are never alone in the 12th Fleet, someone will always be there to offer a helping hand.

RP: Have you always dreamed of being that intrepid doctor or that skilled Starfleet engineer? Now you can! The 12th Fleet has some players that enjoy the occasional RP and have written entire biography’s about their characters and bridge crew. Some of witch can be found on this very page.

History of the 12th Fleet

The Dominion war

The 12th Fleet started out as a military unit of Starfleet during the Dominion war. In the year 2375 they assembled at starbase 19 in preparation to drive the Dominion forces from the planet Betazed conquered shortly before. Before the attack could commence the Dominion launched a pre-emptive attack witch led to the destruction of 36 ships including the USS Nautilus. (TNG novel: "The Battle of Betazed")At the end of the war the fleet was decommissioned by Starfleet command. Its ships assigned to other duties.

Intergalactic relations

The following years the intergalactic relations took a surprising turn, relations with the Romulans after the “Shinzon” incident improved considerably and the Federation devoted itself to assist the Cardassians to restore their people to prosperity. Meanwhile more and more voices in the Klingon Empire spoke up that it was time to return to the old ways and expand the Empire and with the other Alpha Quadrant powers weakened or otherwise engaged.

An idea that grew in strength after the Romulan occupation of Khitomer in 2381. As a result the Klingons launched an attack and regained Khitomer in 2382. This action upset galactic politics in 2383 even though the extremely recent Romulan claim had lasted less than a year.

Over the next decade relations between the Federation and Klingon Empire continued to decline with the first incident occurring in 2392 when the USS Montana attempted to intervene in an armed skirmish between Klingon and Gorn starships and suffered heavy damage by Klingon disruptor fire in the process.

A new beginning

In the year 2407 The relations with the Klingon Empire had escalated to the point that both factions where nearing an all out war. As a result Starfleet Command decided to authorise the reactivation of the 12th Fleet under the command of Admiral Scientia. An officer who was a sound tactician and held his own in a fight but who was not trigger happy.

He spend the next year assembling his fleet comprised of some of the best ships and crew from all over the Federation. Their numbers swelled and it was not long after this the 12th Fleet was a force to be reckoned with.

The home of this group of valiant Starfleet officers would be an experimental space station on the edge of the Klingon/Federation border equipped with the latest technologies. The base was constructed and completed at enormous cost due to the speed it had to be operational by the year 2409. The year everything changed.

Fleet structure

A brief explanation on the fleet structure.
Captains will be in charge of their squadrons and will report to their division admiral (rear admiral).
The division admirals will report to their department admiral (Vice admiral) and the Fleet Admiral.
The department admirals will report to the Fleet admiral.

The Twelve d fleet is comprised of 4 departments and 11 divisions.

Each department is under the command of a Vice Admiral and oversees 2-3 divisions.
Each division is under the command of a Rear Admiral and oversees 2-6 squadrons.

Science Department:

Medical Division:
These are our proud doctors, they will perform medical research and heal our wounded no matter what the obstacle put before them. Operating from the unknown regions of space to the core of the Federation.

Exploration Division:
These men and woman will carry in the footsteps of great officers like Jean Luc Picard and James T Kirk in charting unknown space, perform scientific research and boldly setting off to explore where no man has gone before.

Research division:
Dedicated to those intending to unlock the secrets of the universe. The proud men and woman fulfil the honourable task of developing new technologies or study those we come across on our journey’s with the help of their strong science ships.



Operations Department:

Tactical Division:
Also known as the Valkyries. This will be our division for the PVP oriented player, to take the fight to the enemy and participate in fleet operations against our adversaries. Providing protection for our fleet members and other Federation citizens.

Intelligence:
The information gathered and analyzed by these officers will play a crucial role in dictating the operations and policy of our fleet. They will be our eyes and ears and the first to spot any potential problems.

Maco
Ever dreamed of being there, fighting on the front lines, accomplishing dangerous missions to safeguard to the Federation from whatever threats it may face. To join in the proud tradition of the men and woman who served on the NX01 till today's brave troops then perhaps the Maco's might be for you!



Resources Department:

Engineering division
This proud group of people will be entrusted with the construction and design of our starships and starbases. They will be the invaluable backbone behind the might of the 12th fleet developing new ways to defend ourselves and strike back at our foes.

Trade and supplies:
Should STO have crafters this would be the division for them. Besides this members of this part of the fleet are entrusted to collect supplies to be used in construction. They play a vital role and should not be underestimated.



Command Department:

Diplomacy:
These officers have the sworn duty to uphold the principals of Starfleet and the Federation when dealing with other fleets and potential allies. They will conduct themselves to the best of their abailities when dealing with friends and foes.

JAG
These proud men and woman have the honour of assisting their fellow fleet members when there is a problem be it inside or outside the fleet. They will be the keepers of justice. Look out for potential hazards we might face in the future and mediate in disputes.

The Academy:
The new members to join the fleet will have to pass by the academy for a period of 1 month (this time can be decreased if you have prior command experience both IRL or in MMO's or you join from another allied fleet.
