You have been assigned to take refugees to Starbase 187 when you receive a distress signal from a medical ship ferrying critical supplies to Pacifica, which has been struck by a plague of unknown origin. When you reach the medical ship, you find that the ship is surrounded by two Gorn Cruisers and five Gorn frigates. The medical supplies must reach Pacifica, but not only are you carrying innocent civilians on your ship; you limited weapons capability.

Will you assist the medical ship that has medicine on board that may save thousands, or ensure the safety of your passengers? Choose quickly or all is lost!

How would you solve this scenario? Can you save both?

In this thread, give me the solution to this scenario. Please remember that these are all your opinions and there is no wrong answer. Any flames or trolling posts will be deleted.

taking a page from the best Captian in Starfleet ...... i would reprogram the simulation to allow me to defeat the enemy and rescue the ship.

I would cheat. But its OK, I dont like to lose!

I would expect to get a "Kirk Award" for semi-original thinking.

Well if I'm carrying less than the thousands in need of the medicine then I save the ship, because I cannot die :P. Also the needs of the many outway the needs of the few.

I might be able to save my ship if I can agro the gorn to follow me by firing upon them, then run like a solar flare why the other ship escapes.

I would open channels to the lead Gorn vessel and begin discussing the situation, while having my comunications officer make it seem like we are in communication with multiple friendly ships which are enroute to the area. If the Gorn refused to let us leave peacefully I lock all weapons on the lead crusier and lock a tractor beam on the medical ship. I would then fire all weapons on the cruiser and warp out with the medical ship.

At first Option, I order Red Alert and let the Civilians be secured.
Then I would set up a Communicationprobe that will head slowly towards the Medical Ship and the Gorn, I would order my ship to set a course for the neares star to hide my approach, then I would hail the Gorn via the ComProbe so that my position will not be revealed to them and state the Case, that they halted a Medical Ship with crucial supplies for an infested colony and try to convince them to let the ship fly away, when they agree good for me, when not then I would use the Stars Radiaton to hide my further approach, where I would calculate a course that would let me warp out directly between the Gornships, if they flee, that would be my point if not I try to hammer a full broadside at the leading Gorn ship and try to distract them from the Medical Ship, so that they can flee and get the medical supplies to the Colony to save those people even if my ship will be lost 'cause as Spock stated "The Need of the many outweigh the need of the few or the one"

Some more info would help, like what kind of ship I am using, what kind of crew i've got, the environment, nearby space bodies, etc, etc. But for now....

Hmmm. Off the top of my head(though I may propose another answer later having hadmore time to consider it. Which is technically cheating since this is a "Think fast!" situation, but ah well) I would swing by the nearest habitable planet or moon, beaming my passengers and supplies along with a locator beacon down to it's surface

Then I return and engage the Gorn, using brilliant tactics(Cuz in my own imagination I am quite brilliant) to engage them all at once(And don't say it's impossible. Kor did it and Dahar Master or not, he was going senile at the time. ) until the Medical ship is safely away. Then I head for the nearest Asteroid field, sun, gas body, whatever I can use to help me evade the Gorn fleet until help arrives.

I'd quickly contact the medical ship and request that they prepare the supplies for immediate beam out to my ship.

I'd then begin to beam as many of the supplies to my ship as I could before the Gorn ships turn on me and I can't sustain anymore damage and still fly effectively. I would then warp out of the area, but then immediately warp back in, and begin to beam supplies down to the planet as quickly as possible, again until I couldn't any longer.

I'd then warp away and deliver the refugees knowing that I did as much as I could for the people of Phylos, and hoping that other ships of my faction will arrive there in time to save more.

Tough call on that part.

I will assume the starship I am in command of does not have saucer separation since that was not specified. In either case, it is the duty of a starship captain to protect the lives of all it's officers and members of the Federation. I would evacuate the passengers to long range shuttles and have them vacate the ship immediately, then raise shields and send out a message to Starfleet command. I would then try to open a dialect with the Gorn finding out their intentions on the situation.

If the situation proves to be hostile I would position my ship between the medical ship and the Gorn ships as best as possible to provide cover for the medical ship, possibly even attempting to extend the shields around the ship to protect it. Having my tactical officer attempting to disable the weapons on the Gorn ships as best as possible while letting the medical ship attempt to retreat. I would protect the ship as best as possible so it can escape or until help from the fleet can arrive.

If all else fails, last resort transport the potential plagueed crew and their medical supplies to my ship and solve the plague crisis en route of escaping.

(you caught me before I could change the typo )

My initial solution would be to realize (assuming the Federation and Gorn are in a state of open war) it is truly a "no win senario" and cut my loses and head to SB 187...I would do so with a heavy heart, but losing my ship and all my passengers would not be a logical option.

My secondary solution would be to attempt the old "snatch and grab" at warp speed. I would attempt to use my superior sensors to try and make the Gorn think there are enemy vessels coming from another direction...perhaps draw them off then swoop in at warp, grab the supplies and hurry off.

Granted based on your question a lot of assumptions have to be made as you were not very detailed. In a real situation like this....with this limited data I would have no choice but to avoid the situation altogether.

I would try to bluff them by positioning my self between the gorn and the ship and akivate the selfdestruct sequence. the gorn would realise that i would selfdestruct before they could take me out and realise that they would be destroyed from the blast and back of afterthat i teleport the crew from the medical ship and go to warp.
