Default Welcome Back Weekend FAQ

We are really excited about our latest additions to Star Trek Online, and wanted to share them with everyone who has purchased the game, but may not currently be an active subscriber. Maybe you got busy with work or family vacations, but we want to invite you to explore the Final Frontier again!

This special Welcome Back Weekend event begins Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific and ends Monday, August 9, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific.

Eligibility Requirements

If you have ever applied a Retail Product Key for Star Trek Online to your account, you are eligible to participate in the Welcome Back Weekend. All you have to do is patch up and log in.

Note - Demo account holders will see no change to their accounts during this special weekend. All Demo restrictions will still apply.

Things you can do to be ready to play

Downloading & Installing
The game client itself may be downloaded and installed any number of times. Under normal circumstances, access to Star Trek Online is gated by having a Retail Product Key applied to your account and having an active subscription. For this special Welcome Back Weekend, the only requirement is to have a Retail Product Key applied to your account; there is no need to have an active subscription.

Though part of the installation process may call for an account key, this is not required to complete the installation. Meaning if you previously created an account and applied a Retail Product Key you do not need to enter it again. If you are reinstalling, and this is requested, you may simply close this browser window and the installation will complete. As previously stated; while an active subscription is normally required to log in, Welcome Back Weekend will be an exception.

If you haven’t updated Star Trek Online in a while, head over to our download page to grab the latest version and reduce your patching time!

Account Name & Password
Make certain that you have your Account Name and Password ready to go. If you have forgotten your Password, you will want to head over to www.startrekonline.com and use the ‘Forgot Password?’ link located on the top left hand side of the page.

When you click on the ‘Forgot Password’ link you will be prompted to provide specific information; once entered this will generate an automatic email sent to the email address that is on file for your account. Some email providers may incorrectly categorize these 'password reset' emails as "spam"; in the event they are not delivered in a timely manner be sure to check your junk/spam folder. You will need to follow the instructions provided in the 'change password' email to complete the change process. If you no longer have access to the email address that is on file you will need to contact the Account Support Team.

If by chance you have forgotten your Account Name, you will need to contact the Account Support Team and be able to provide ownership verification.

Patching
Once Welcome Back Weekend begins (August 4, 2010 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific), you will be able to start patching. Simply start the game client and log in, your patching will commence automatically. When the patching is complete, you will be ready to play Star Trek Online.

Everything going to be fixed by then? I'd hate to have all the returners leave with a sour taste because the pvp queue is borked or the servers are lagging or somesuch.

What about those who are active? And what exactly are the perks of playing this weekend? Or is it just 'put a name on this weekend and leave it at that?'

Not that I need an incentive to play, but their has to be some reason your calling it a Welcome back weekend. Like a higher drop rate would be nice. Very nice indeed.

While I do think this IS a good idea per se; I think it probably would have been better done after you got the PvP queue problems under better control (ie after the small 'fix' patch you posted to Tribble was tested, tweaked and pushed to Holodeck. <--- And this from a VERY casual PvPer, but I do realize that PvP IS a draw for this MMO)

That said, I'll bet Atari/Cryptic marketing probably set up the date for this weeks ago, and figured 'what the hell.'

That said, there IS indeed a lot of good stuff to see in Season 2.0 that does work, so I do hope it goes well.

Holodeck is just the name for the main game server, and Tribble is the name for the test server for new content testing. I think thats it.
