So it's the future....I guess going back and doing a mission with Kirk wouldn't be out of the question. How about time traveling into the future and bringing back weapon's and defense's to battle the borg. Has the prime directive changed? Can the rules be bent?

I'm gonna go with a "probably not."

The prime directive would clearly get in the way of bringing back weapons from the future.
First: how would they get to the future?
Second: if they took the weapons from the future, then who invented them and when? are we really sure the weapons from the future aren't just there because we took them from then into the past and let them sit until they would be taken?

Bleh. Time travel. The future is the past, the past is the future - it all gives me a headache.

I don't know which one of us is more bored. :D You for posting all these threads or me for answering all of them haha.

Anyways i highly doubt any type of meaningful time travel will be possible in STO, simply because first and foremost STO is an MMO. As such it would be way too game breaking to allow people to modify their ships with "future" weapons. Also you would have to take into effect the player's actions in the past and the effect it would have on the future. It would just be too difficult to code to where it would make any sense at all in an MMO. I've always hated time travel in any show anyways, its always a writer's lazy way to justify a plot twist in one way or the other. Very rarely is it ever portrayed effectively or believably, but that's just me.

As far as the Prime Directive being bent or broken. I would imagine not. The whole of federation society is based off of the rules of the Prime Directive, and allowing players to arbitrarily break it whenever they felt like it would just kill the cannon of the game. There would need to be some consequence to breaking the Prime Directive if they were to allow you to do so, and i would think that would be way too complicated/difficult to code/implement effectively. There is however a lively debate about this in other threads so i would suggest doing a search for them.
