Can I claim my own planet

I wish to establish a home planet to which no one can land and I can do evil things, our gather resources from there and others should also be abble to as long as the planet wont cause any problems in the set missions.

It wouldn't be STO if Romulans can't come and harass you as you would be far from Fed space. You better install the latest scanners and force fields to minimize detection by sneakey Romulans.
But if your planet is not charted I'll come and visit. Nice idea>:)

I believe you can claim a planet for your faction and fleet...according to the "ask cryptic"

Hey there, this is a good question, I'm curious myself about planets, and I asked a bunch of planet related questions in the last "Ask Cryptic" episode 3, so hopefully if Cryptic developers have some time, they can respond with some answers to that.

I certainly hope you cant. Anything one player can do, another should be able to undo.

I think that it would depend on which government that you work for.

Such as, if your in the Federation, it wouldn't be very 'Starfleet' of you to claim a planet for 'yourself'. You work for the Federation, not for yourself to profit and gain.

If your a Klingon or perhaps Romulan, I could see you claiming a planet on behalf of the Klingon or Romulan Empire, and then the Empire gives you Govenorship over the planet.

But what I got out of the article is that if you discover a planet, you get to name it and you probably get credit for the discovery, perhaps you get a better deal on resources for your government, etc. But I don't believe they are intending for players to be able to actually 'claim' a planet for their own personal use.

I think I also read where if you discover a planet, then the inhabitants of the planet are favorable to your government, and you can recruit them for your ship.

I really don't think that individual players should be able to claim planets, because I think it would really just introduce a lot of problems; still, the idea of claiming a planet for your faction is very interesting, and it will be even better if you can attempt to take planets from opposing factions.

I would think you wouldn't be able to "claim" a planet however I do think perhaps a larger guild would be able to build a starbase for it's members.

I don't think it would be worth the Federation's time to allow players to claim planets when they would just be turned over to the Klingons eventually. The Federation will just be locating resources for the Klingons, less work for us to do. Hmm, so Klingons are already in the slave business.
