I would like to see it be completely accurate to the televised series, anything that can be done should be fit into game as best as possible.

I Would love this game to stick as close to Cannon as possible, but am willing to make sacrifices for fun gameplay. There are areas where some changes will need to be made for ease of use. As long as they stick to the spirit of the show I will have no probelms, and have no worries so far.

They can/do say a lot of things but we don't know what sacrifices will be made until something official is announced.

"As best as possible" works well for me. Keep it as loyal as it can be, but take some liberties to make the game fun. Don't mock the fans, but give them something new to tinker with. It's a fine line to walk, but I have faith that Cryptic can do it.

I think that the game should definitely remain true to what has been seen on the television shows and movies, but I also think that the game has a lot of room for innovation due to the time in which the game is set.

The shows are the past, that is why they are hard cannon. But we are in the future, Cryptic can do whatever they like. We just happened to get lucky and got a team that wants to have the game stick close to its roots. But since even the shows contradict their own cannon I will take fun over hardcore any day.

I've said it before, Trek canon should be handled in the same way as the Pirate's Code.

They're more like... guidelines. :)

I will take Canon over a standard MMO style (no matter how much money that company makes) any day of the week but that doesn't mean that Cryptic will. Companies today look for ways to make the most bang for the less amount of money/time. Case in point if they knew that they could take WoW and just add the name Star Trek to it and get millions of subscribers to shell out billions of dollars no matter if it had ST in the game or not they would (you can say they wouldn't but any company would and you can't deny it).

ST canon is what makes a show/game/series a Star Trek show/game/series and not some watered down Space Opera.

While I agree cannon should be followed, it shouldn't be completely rigid, either. Take for instance SWG, non cannon ideas were completely forbidden, restricting what they could and could not do with the story line and gameplay.

Also, considering STO is taking off where the last movie was left off, we should embrace the furthering of the story line.

As close to the show as possible while still making a fun game would be my preference.
