I have been monitoring this site for some time and have not seen or heard any new revelations about this game. This site appears more of another Hailing Frequency/ Trekie site. Many us are busy and have lives other than living on Bulletin Board Sites. By this time an approximation of the Beta test schedule should be available. Cryptic needs to be more specific about this game or provide more feedback. They want to keep the buzz going, but you need to throw out a bone occasionally. I predict that this site will further mutate into a standard Trek site rather than a true discussion of the games. Judging by the volume of Memory Alpha data on this site and the minutia people go into it is clear that people have expectations that are not realistic for an MMO. Lets Get Real. Lets not talk about the size of your phaser, lets talk about real issues. This is a nice forum for swapping trek stories, but I want to know about the game, and/or have updates on their progress. This is a nice social venue but I was under the impression that Cryptic would be more interactive. I have read the Dev Tracker forums, and STO forums, but I have seen zillions of thoughts about how the game should be, but no "red meat". I saw Jack Emmert on YouTube, but that was old stuff.

You expect a beta schedule 8 months after Cryptic acquired the IP? Isn't that a tad harsh?

I have no doubt that as we near release, we'll get more information. They're quite active with devlogs and question/answer posts on the Champions site, I'm sure that they'll do something similar here.

Well a week ago they had a Q and A posted with a variety of details about the game. Right now they are in very early alpha and Beta is a long way off. Forthcoming details are more in the realm of how they are updateing the universe for the game and some general game principals which they have been very forthcoming about.

If your looking for more info about STO I recommend picking up the october issue of GameInformer. Their most likely waiting to update the site until after that issue of GI has gone off the shelves.

So far this month there have been two Ask Cryptics, a Dev profile and a 10 page article in Game Informer and the game is still about a year from release! Really, how much more could they give us at this point? I want more info, videos and screens too, but we have to be a bit realistic.

lets be honest here. So far in the 8 months cryptic has had the IP. They've done more and given more details than the entire development team at P2 ever gave us in the 4 years they've had the IP. were dang lucky to even be this far along in development considering and cryptic has routinely answered Q&A questions which is more than most developers. My hat truely goes off to cryptic's efferts on this game

I personally feel the information has been coming an a steady and fair rate, especially since we know it's a bare minimum of a year away (and could be much further)..

I was going to say something very close to this... but now I guess I don't need to.

Criptic is doing a fairly well job, I just cant wait for the release so hopefully they can focus there intentions on a earlier date, at least that for now they've been pretty in lightning.

That's been my primary argument as to why Cryptic is best for the job.

Honestly, I think that Cryptic Studios is doing fine with releasing new information about the game and I cannot wait to learn more about the game.

Congratulations. You obviously have been here for less than a month, as the Game Informer was very descriptive.

This site appears more of another Hailing Frequency/ Trekie site. Many us are busy and have lives other than living on Bulletin Board Sites.
Well this site is for the game, the others are not. So if you want to know about this game or talk about this game, post HERE. if not, post ELSEWHERE.

By this time an approximation of the Beta test schedule should be available.

What gives you the power to say when beta test schedules should be released? THEY work on the project, we sit and wait for them to be done. That's how it works. You have no right to demand they release a beta schedule.

Cryptic needs to be more specific about this game or provide more feedback. They want to keep the buzz going, but you need to throw out a bone occasionally.
Like the GI Issue...

I predict that this site will further mutate into a standard Trek site rather than
a true discussion of the games.
I laugh at the absurdity of that statement.

Judging by the volume of Memory Alpha data on this site and the minutia people go into it is clear that people have expectations that are not realistic for an MMO.
Cite some examples.

less than two months ago... and that's "old stuff?"

Okay, judging from all of the above you're just hungry for information and impatient.
Give it time, and they'll give more over that time, but for now we have a CRAPLOAD of info on this game, considering there is a YEAR to go on it's release, at least.

i'm going to have to go with the general consensus here. cryptic is doing pretty great here. especially dealing with a bunch of trek nerds, myself included.

we all want more info every time we look at the web page, but we all just need to be patient here. as the last q&a post said, "we want to thank the dev team for taking time out of their busy schedule to answer questions"

cryptic has 2 games tentatively scheduled for next year and that's a huge goal for them. lets just sit back and talk amongst ourselves.

i personally l am trying to focus on getting trekified and getting to know the members of my fleet.

Say what you about Cryptic and this site but they've certainly been far more forthcoming with information about this game than Funcom ever has with Conan and it's already been out for ~6 months now. Just be patient and relax and I'm sure that Cryptic will be posting more info as they get further along with the game, they're one of the better studios when it comes to communicating with their (potential) customers.

To be honest.... look at my number of posts.
I'm here a lot, and it's hard for me to keep up and remember it all.

Maybe I lag because I'm also participating, but nonetheless Cryptic is feeding us well.

If you want an idea how open they are with the fan base, head on over to Champions Online, they have given much along the way.

The real story is there developing a mmo of star trek. can you imagine the cost just to accuire the rights to it?
Second they are in early stages of development they have other titles to get off there books first
also this title will either make them number 1 in the mmorpg community that means big bucks. Or they will crash and burn.
And face it star trek fans want more bells and whisles out of a star trek mmo than say wow or eve. not alot of canon material out on those titles so you can mess up and alot of people will not care
you mess up a trek title with all the canon material on it. I know I wouldn't want to be them.
And I suspect this site is to gage CONSUMER responce as well as idea's from people all over the web.
I suspect they read 90 % of the posts here and decide would that be a good idea is it do able with the tech on hand right now. cost and developement time.
10 heads better than 1 head 30000 heads better than 10 heads for ideas.
I think there doing well to get information out. they can't say we are going to do this then 3 months down the road that whole idea was scraped.
same as there competition would love to get ahold of inhouse information industrail secrets!!! You think there competition wants them to have a game that blows them and there games away.

Be patient put your game comments ideas down you never know. :)
