I hate to do another thread but I was wondering about the GI article. They talk about shipbuilding and adding different parts. In that part of the article they said that it was still undecided whether or not the individual parts will affect performance of you ship. My first question, would you want those parts to affect the performance or not?
Now my second topic is redundant systems. What I am talking about is having a main Warp Core for power than in case of an overload and you have to eject the warp core you have a secondary core that gives your ship enough power to get you ship out of a sticky situation. I'm not saying that redundant systems come at a small price. As an example would be the secondary warp core, if you choose to have a secondary warp core that you pay a price of containment or maneuverability. Or for that matter both. I know containment is vague but say if your ship is 100% in health your containment is 100%. Now say you have 100% health but you have a secondary warp core you might have something like 80% containment. This can be worked in with any system, like shields, weapons, engines, sensors. You get a benefit but also get a negative effect. So my second question, would you like the ability to have redundant systems?
