Poker night

In several TNG episodes, we often saw some of the crew getting together for a friendly game of poker. I think this would make a great little mini-game that players could participate in, particularly when hosting visiting players on their ships. Thoughts?:D

someone mentioned the 3D chess in the last quetions section. They said it might not be ready for launch. :(

I would like to see Taango (sp), or other games that were played during the series as well.

love it. just any game that ST has would be nice to play and maybe even beat a friend at them.

Poker would be a side-game to have around when you are waiting repairs or traveling long-distances.

But honestly, I wonder if they will or not. Some game companies get nervous with gambling being put in their games in fear or parental groups. Then again, KotoR had it and it was vastly popular. So who knows. :p

If they do have it in. I hope they would add in other games like Dabo, Dom Jot, and Tongo as well. :D

I hope there are minigames available on DS9 at launch. I'm not sure if Cryptic will have 3D chess, poker, or Tongo ready to be put on starships at launch, but I'm sure they'll be in there eventually.

3-D chess would be hard though, seeing as though most of the population doesn't have a clue how to play it.

A poker mini-game shouldn't be too hard to put in. There are thousands of poker games already so making the game itself takes no time. Putting it into the engine shouldn't be too hard. Maybe 2 weeks worth of work.

I think that poker would be a fine addition to the game as long as the gambling aspect did not get too unwieldy. I definitely hope to see recreational activities such as this in the game at some point though!

I agree. if it were to be in the game, it definitely wouldn't (or shouldn't) be high stakes...it should be exactly what it was, a friendly game of poker between comrades who enjoy each others company.

I really am for all minigames, because I really loved them in the KotOR series. It was big fun to complete my pazaak (sp?) deck...
And I definitely wouldn't mind playing poker or any other game with friends or my senior ofiicers to socialize or just to beat some time on the long way home after some deep space exploration.

Minigames can be fun and a poker game or such would definitely be one of the ones I can see working in STO.

However, instead of putting in "minigames" I'd much rather see them put in a deck of cards that we can interact with... deal cards on the table in separate stacks (open or closed), pick up the cards and order them in your hand, pick a card from, your hand to play on the table (open or closed), collect the cards lying on the table, etc. Add a similar something with poker chips and we could play our own card games within STO. For some this might be power, but others might prefer to play hearts or play some other poker variant, or any number of games.

Minigames are fun, but I much rather see the world made more interactive so that we can make our own minigames.
