I'd like to have a Captain's Log options to be voice and writing available. We would do a log while in game that would be stored/saved in our cryptic on-line web account temporary to be exported on the web to put in a report for our respective fleet to read/learn about our in game activity while we are playing.

Your thoughts?

Thank you.

your talking of this post right.... off of ask cryptic sep. 4, 08 posted by kestrel "Could we possibly expect to make our own "log" entries? Star Trek just isn't Star Trek without log entries.

Yes – log entries are an awesome idea with many cool applications. We've got a lot of ideas on how we can do this and to what extent you'll be able to view the logs on and offline – but the details are still to be determined. Make sure you tell us what you're interested in seeing out of this feature on the forums!"

well then i agree that logs should have voice as well as type. it would be nice to have past actions and feelings be noted and then played for others or maybe even some guilds/clans/fleets could even choose members after screening with logs.

I can see the Federation players log now....

Captains Log stardate bla bla bla
Today I died. My ship and crew parished under a Klingon named SovWell. Although I am dead, I live again to continue seeking out this Klingon and attempt to make peace.

Captains log stardate bla bla bla
I died again, and funny, it was by the same Klingon. Today I will look for another Klingon to pick on.

LOL, poor Sovwell...

Captains Log, supplemental...today I encountered the notorius Klingon Pirate Sovwell...reluctant to make peace or do anything that resembled anything friendly, he left me no choice but to tractor his entire ship into Borg space just as a Cube was entering the Quadrant. I refused to engage him, but I left him with a thought. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." I'll leave him to decide which enemy he wanted to be.

Great idea, in the log you could add a lot of useful game info about you, for instance: PVP/PVE, favorite location, online time, and just unimaginable roll play content. There is just one problem:

Captain's Log, Stardate 54324.5:
We have just been BEEEP by a BEEEP Klingon BEEEP of Pray and we just wanted to take a BEEEP ore sample from a BEEEP planet... Oh no here he is again for BEEEP sakes go to red BEEEP alert cant you see there is a BEEEEPING Klingon ship decloaking??? BEEEEEEEP BUM...

The Klingon side would be just one big BEEEEP...

Make the game 16+ ^^

To much potential for abuse. It would also be a waste of resources for Cryptic. However if there is another site not run by cryptic, for players to put their audio/text captains logs on, then go for it.

Hehe this look's fun;

Captain's Log stardate blah blah blah
Well seems SovWell got away from teh Borg after using several profane words, I am guessing he was expressing his gratitude for the training and that his ship was needing several new disruptors installed and grateful for having his old one's destroyed in such a manner. Well, to make an offer of peace, I decided to leave him a gift at his fleet yard in the way of a cargo of 15 crates of tribbles. I know the Klingons enjoy the gentle cooing those creatures do, and have plenty of food to spare for the little buggers. Also, I was reminded of how eager SovWell was in meeting with the Romulans so I dispatched a encoded communique to the Romulan Star Empire with the exact coordinates to SovWell's fleet yard, which happens to be within their space. I am sure they will be most gracious hosts to. :p

This is an interesting concept, but i think it might be difficult to have any kind of voice software in the game. Still, I hope that logs function in a way similar to this!

Ha ha Silver...."15 crates of tribbles"... One would have been enough to do a Klingon in. :D And I am sure my great Romulans host would just be honored in cooking our base for dinner. Light'em Up!

Um... FrankieDoo ... you scare me. I don't know about your species, but I'm into Klingon Women.

I'm Vulcan/Romulan. And love wasn't my intent nor mating. Put "like" in another sense. Liking someting, is to like, appreciate, enjoy to be with and friendship. Unless, Klingons doesn't understand the word "friend" or just a fun person making jokes makes me happy.

Hrmm *hold's up a tribble to SovWell*

You know that should be the ultimate defense against Klingons, just having a tribble as one of your equipment pieces.

Wow... I figured out what you get when you combine a tribble with a gremlin = Ferbiee

I would like to see an extensive CAPTAINS LOG - sort of like WARHAMMER's Tomb Of Knowledge:

http://warhammeronline.wikia.com/wiki/Tome_of_Knowledge

I would rather see 'scripted' Captain's Logs, rather than player voice recordings. For example, as you progress through the Episode (Quest), it updates your log with pre-scripted writing - much like a Quest Tracker tends to do already.

They could simply have a 'Ships computer' voice be the 'reader' if you wanted to listen to it.

Maybe they could use the same racial default FX voice to read it, but I am not sure how extensive that might be when it comes to reading paragraphs of text.

I'm sure there will be somekind of Captain's Log feature. However, will it be an automatic recording of your adventures, or something you write yourself? hmmmm.

The Askcryptic blogs states they are working on including a Captain's Log, but that they had not finalized what it would entail at that time.

It would be nice to have a Captains log to keep track of where you've been and seen. Though I doubt they would do voice probably text only.

My guess is that it will function as a journal from other games. It lists your missions, objectives etc, then gives you a section to add your own text entries as well.

I would gladly write my own text in my own words. Add it to my report for my fleet and share with people of the entire STAR TREK community. I hope we'll be able to transfer our logs into something to get it from our computer after wards but still stays in game for future reference if our mission has not ended. Either way. Voice and text would be nice to see.
