Hi all

I've searched a liitle and found nothing about it.

The question is simple.

Does Characters dye? Or are they transported someplace?

I would hate to see my super character dye in a mission and i would have to start an ensign...

Thank you

I don't think you can dye your character. I think they have to stay the same color until they die.

No, right now if you DIE your charater is beamed back to sick bay on your ship. That may change. That could be fun however, if your charater dies you wake up dyed another color. " Awww Crap.... who ever herd of a Barbie Pink Andorian!"

i dont know how its going to work, but i do know how it SHOULD work: if you die on a planet or while fighting on your ship you "wake up" on the sickbay of your ship. if your ship is destroyed you "wake up" in the sickbay of the nearest starbase. character death should result in the loss of prestige, ship loss should result in an even larger loss of prestige.

I agree with you idea. It would be nice to ear from the developers...

Lol. Good one. Might make a good gag for April Fool's. Imagine logging on and discovering that your uber Klingon murder machine has turned baby blue >

If the ship blows up I wonder what happens to the bridge crew? Rather than just waking up in starbase after the ship is destroyed wouldn't escape pods ejecting and then being pick up by a friendly ship be more realistic.

No one is really sure what happens if you lose a space battle but it seems unlikely that you'd use escape pods at that would mean you would lose your ship and everything you've put into building it up. There are a few competeing theories, my personal favorite is the 'Adrift but Salvageable' theory which states that it would then become a side mission to repair you own ship, or you'd just have to 'pay' to hitch a tow back to a starbase. They did something close to this in Starfleet Academy years back. That was a great game...

if you want realistic then when your character dies you should have to start a new one. when your ship is destroyed you should have to requisition a new one. while "realistic", waiting on another ship to come pick up your escape pod could take who knows how long, and is not reasonable in the context of having fun. the only reasonable way for death to be handled is your character waking up in a medical facility either on your ship or on a space station.

Yeap, we can't make it too realistic, otherwise the fun would go away.

I'm thinking if your ship goes boom, toast. You most likely end up at the nearest Star Base or Outpost (either by beaming into the sick bay or by escape) Ship is lost and a chance that some crew members may not have made it.

Since space combat will be slow and tactical I believe that the chance your ship will go boom will be low, since if the battle isn't going well for you, one can always warp out.

dont be so sure about that. if the battle "isnt going so well for you", your engines might be damaged. plus, your enemy can follow you if you go to warp and some types of weapons(like photons) can be fired at warp.

Well, there is always going to be risk with going into combat. If you don't think you can handle that approaching enemy ship, kick in the Warp drives from the get go, beef up those rear shields and pray you make it to safety before they make it to you.;)

I agree that when we die in game we should just be returned to sick bay. If the ship is destroyed then the first time you should be sent to the nearest star base and then have to go and salvage the ship, in a quest format then you learn how to go and get your ship and return it to base for repairs. Or there could even be drones that you can utilize to go out and repair your ship with you. So I am thinking that we go from the star base in a runabout type deal with a few repair bots onboard and take them to the ship they repair it for you and then the runabout heads back to the star base and you go on your merry way. Realistically though the ship should be gone with all it's upgrades and you should have to start over! I would hate that cause I tend to die a lot...

I think the official word is that Cryptic isn't sure exactly, but Jack has said it won't be too harsh.
