One of the factions I'm most looking forward to in this game is the Dominion. They're kinda like the Federation in that they are inclusive of other races, and not a "mono-race" empire like the Klingons or Cardassians.

My idea for how the Dominion could work would be to keep it restrictive and ladder based. As a player, you must earn your place in the Dominion.

Every player would start out as a Jem'Hadar soldier (or maybe a Karemma trader) at a pretty low rank, maybe Sixth or Seventh. You complete missions and advance through the ranks (however they're planning on dealing with ranks in STO.) Eventually, the player will reach the vaunted rank of First and will unlock a new race: the Vorta! As a Vorta, the player would oversee the Dominion's lesser races and gain in rank until the player unlocks another new race: the Founders!

This way, I think a player would feel they've earned the right to be one of the leaders of the Dominion. I'm excited for this faction, I think it'll be fun and unique.

That's what I liked about the Dominion too. They already seemed to have a large number of other species under their control and when they had alliances with the Cardassian and Breen it added to the diversity. I could definitely see them as a playable faction. Founders would really need some balancing if it happens though.

I also find the Dominion to be intriguing and I definitely wouldn't mind seeing them implemented in a way similar to your idea. I hope that the developers strongly consider the Dominion as one of the first races to be implemented after the Romulans!

Keep in mind that the Dominion is a kinda anti Federation government.

While there is racial diversity keep in mind several of the races have been genetically modified to be subservient to the Founders.

Whereas the Federation is founded on equality of all races, the Dominion was ruled by extortion and fear of the Founders who were considered gods by the long term members of the Dominion.

Still it might be interesting to see them in time, though the damage to them during the Dominion War might be hard to overcome, and with Odo helping to repair the Great Link when the Dominion reappears it could be different than the Dominion we saw, or perhaps Odo's connection corrupted him and he now sees the Founders viewpoint.

Expansions I'd like to see:

Romulan Star Empire
Cardassian Union
Ferengi Alliance
Gorn Hegemony
Tholian Assembly
