In the trailer we see the ships being controlled from a more or less "3rd person" perspective, though I'm not sure that would be the appropriate term. My concern is that space flight will be controlled primarily through that view, which I suppose is okay to a certain degree, however I do not really want to stare at the back of my ship the whole time. I would like to be able to command a significant portion of the time from my bridge in an interior view. This would add a much desired immersion element to the game which I believe most if not all star trek fans would much appreciate.

I also hope that there are a variety of camera angles in the game, certainly including an interior view from the bridge.

Yup this has been brought up a few times, but never the less, I think we all want our options to view whatever we like.

I'm hoping that would be possible for some piloting situations. Such as when flying in open space with noting around or giving your helmsmen orders to warp. Though in a combat situation or in an area with other objects around that could be a difficult view unless you had another screen showing whats around the ship.

I haven't played it in ages but i like the way bridge commander did it you could do everything from you bridge but in combat you could go out side your ship.

Technically, you don't have to go outside, you can hve your TAC officer do all the firing, and have your helmsman do the maneuvering. However, I do not use them.
It pays to know Evasive Maneuver Omega-3.

Yea that would be a nice way to fight but I think I'd only use it against enemies I know I can't lose against.
It would almost be like turning your ship into an NPC where you just give commands and hope the computer carries them out successfully. Sometimes that little more control can be the difference between winning and being blown up.

.
I think that is how i will like this game to be.The would be benefit to have a skilled helm and tactical officer.
But i think going out side in a fight would be the best thing to do and be inside on the bridge for general stuff
On bridge commander i think i used them when i was doing some think else like moving power around my ship .
I think might load that game some time soon and have a go with it again.
