fleet logo / ship registry

I was thinking that the fleet logo shouldn't show on the hull but rather it should show on scanners only. This once again helps those people who hate customization. You could do an on/off switch for this one also.

Ship registries could be auto assigned by the server. A sort of a way to show how long the ship has been around in relation to game launch, stamped right there on the hull. Unique registries could be another way to identify dev's and gm's too. Could even have contests for unique registry numbers. Give people the option to add -A -B -C to their registry number if they name their next ship the same as the previous ship.

I'd rather have fleet logos be shown, at the choice of the captain of course.

And registry numbers have already been confirmed to be chosen by the player.

You will not have to decal your ship if you do not want to, it will be the same as CoX. If others want fleet insginias on their ship let them. Insignia on scanners would only be useful on opossing factions, its not like your going to be targeting friendly ships very much. Besides I want to dec out my U.S.S. SUX2BU

I want decals visible on the ship hull so i can add logo in front of saucer ( logo what i have in the avatar pic. :cool: ) and it can be switched of so people can coose if they see it or not.

This is an interesting idea but I think that, in general, fleet logos will always be able to be displayed on ships in order to further distinguish one ship from another.

I agree. Decals as well as custom colors should be a toggle in the option panel--in the same way I can turn off the names and awful guild titles in other games. It's distracting.

That way, everyone gets what they want. :)

I wonder what the system for creating decals and logos will be? I never played CoX so I don't know what they did in that game. Will we have some sort of decal/logo creation tool that we take a database of images and create something out of all that?
