I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this. But I was reading on another thread about a person who was asking about an in game music player. My comment was if the game could be played in window mode it wouldn't need it.

It was when i said this that a thought occurred to me. There are lots of us who use multiple displays with windows. What about using those multiple displays in game? I was thinking if it would be possible to have one monitor with the game as we plan to see it and a second or third monitor (if people have that many in use) with an LCARS readout. For example a LCARS readout of the system with any ship in the area, what faction they are and along those lines. A base example would be what they show in "the wounded" Season 4 episode 12 where they have the overlay on the main screen. Or even something similar to the overlay you have in Star Trek Legacy when you hit the tab button. Maybe even a layout of what the sensors see when your entering a new area.

I think it's the base of an idea if anyone wants to help build on it, let me know what you think, maybe we can build something cryptic might like enough to put in.

This is an interesting idea, but I do not think that something like this will be present in the game. I think that having so many different displays would only end up confusing the average player, and since the developers are attempting to make the game as accessible as possible I doubt that they would consider implementing something like this.

Whats great about this idea is it's something that could be an option. In the same sense as having windowed or full screen mode, it could also be something turned on for the more hardcore gamer.

mmmm.... i think everyone should invest in a 42" lcd'preferably 1080 models like mine so you can have the
real bridge feeling at home ;)

I used to have multiple monitors... nothing compares to having one large bridge viewscreen to look at though

That's exactly what I'm buying for this game with my new computer...going to mount it on a wall and have my desk closer to the center of the room to make it feel open like a bridge!!. Will wait Til the game is closer to release though.

Thats why I'm suggesting it could be possible getting this idea out now maybe it could be added in.

I'm all for options when it comes to the games I play. The more options open to players the more attractive any game seems. I don't know if I would use more than one monitor myself but I would want the option to...

If they did include the option though I'd use the big screen with the main part of the game (character/ship) on it and move all the hotkeys, cluttery chat boxes and other UI controls down to a smaller screen sitting next to me at the desk... Kind of like a read out display of everything right next to me.

Thankfully in Mmos players can make UI (User Interface) Mods to change things more to their liking. I'm sure it will be mo different in STO.

I dont see them doing this an dont see the need for it all info you need to see should be on your screen. An it would be hard for the Xbox360/PS3 people to do. I will be playing on the PC.

While it might be an option for PC players, I don't believe it's possible to set up anything like that on a console (though we can have big screen goodness). That and the fact that alot of PC players only have one monitor will probably mean that nothing will be developed with multi monitor set ups in mind.

Just cause you don't does not mean that it's absolute that they won't, and really why would you think there is no need for it? It would be a very cool feature to have, it would allow people like me who are hardcore and have 2 or 3 monitors attached to their pc's the ability to use those multiple displays. Plus it would be fun to have.

Though in all honesty they haven't said anything about releasing it for the consoles and I dout they will, plus playing MMO's on a console is nothing compared to playing them on a PC both in graphic capabilities and control.
