Does anyone else think it is wierd in MMO's when men play female avatars? I kind of find it a little wierd, There's nothing wrong with women, but I have never had any want to be one, so maybe I just dont understand?

Its normal realy, unless they RP them....then its weird.
Its just a matter of "I dont want to stare at a guys but all the way to lvl 50"

I've played a few females. Mostly of non-human nature. I played a female Bothan Bounty Hunter in SWG. I mean come on the irony of 3 foot Bothan girl making 7 foot wookies and trandos cry was too hard to resist.

With multiple butts to stare at on away missions, I might have a full T'Pol clone crew :p

I do it on occasion, but my main(s) are always male. I usually only make a female to fit a certain position to make sense. (for instance, when I played WoW I'd make a female Night Elf warrior because women are traditionally the soldiers in their society)

I almost always make female characters.
Partly because I like to, but mostly because if I'm going to stare at the digital representation of any backside, it should be female.

it's considered normal, I however have never had a female toon and never will... not that anythings wrong with it but it would just feel awkward to me. And I don't buy that excuse of "I dont want to stare at a guys butt all day" the fact of the matter is your eyes shouldn't be staring directly at your toons butt in the first place regardless of gender, your eyes should be focused on the environment around your toon.

real butt > pixel butt

Is it weird when a male author writes about a female character? Or when a tv show has a female character in it?

Its just role play. Nothing wrong with that

We all have our preferences. No shame in any of them.

I have to say though with ST:O and the bridge crew I love the fact that I will play multiple characters though. And even if my captain isn't a female at least one or two of my bridge crew will be.

I don't look at this as a problem at all and I do not think anything needs to be done to "correct" it.

No. What I find weird is that you'd care. Frankly, at best, it sounds like something only someone woefully insecure would give a second thought.

I apologize for inciting you, Sir. The question is not/was not an attack.

What about a girl playing a guy character? Everyone always assumes that a guy would want to play a girl...switch things up a bit. LOL... No Seriously though, what does it matter? As long as you are having fun while you are playing, then you have nothing to worry about. Wither it's because you want to stare at a chick's butt, or a guys butt, or you want to represent the culture or just like to try something different; (the list goes on and on) if you can't do any of those things without enjoying some aspect of the game, I would suggest to find something else too occupy your time. MMO's were designed for entertainment, enough said. :p

I am a guy but I like to have a girl for my crafter. I have found that other players give me extra money if I show them a nice rack. :)

I generally play a mixture of both female and male avatars. There are lots of reasons, I like character creation, so I like to mix it up. Personally, if I see a female avatar, I assume it's a guy unless I have evidence to the contrary, but that generally doesn't effect how I treat people online anyway. I have experienced what Kellir was talking about, people being nicer to you because you're female, I have also experienced people stalking you and being all manner of creepy or going nuts when you say "no I don't want to talk on MSN with you" and/or "I'm a guy". In fact, I think if I was a woman, I'd be tempted to create male characters to avoid that.
