Ok after reading several threads and brainstorming I would like to know if we think the Game is on the right track and is holding true to canon.
The Devs have stated you will be able to choose the kind of Captain you want to be which make sense because not every ships captain starts out as a helmsman and not everyone should have to do they exact same mission to progress. Taking this into consideration it seems the next logical step is to have different “trainers” on different stations and planets players would receive missions from. This would effectively scatter the games player across the known galaxy and relieve the lag we see when playing the game. Although most if not all ship Commanders serve as crew members at some point before they receive their first command. I understand the logistics evolved with developing a game with AI control ships (to get the first group of Captains trained in) and the working out the details of what to do with a ships crew when say there normal bridge crew has logged out for the night. Does the next ranking member of the crew get to move the ship? What happens when the Captain logs back in to finish a mission and the ships been move halfway across the galaxy? I could go on but I will spare you. This to me is not necessarily to the core but it may be a vital comprise to the success of the game.
It’s also been said that as you progress in “Rank” you’ll be able to obtain bigger and better ships. This also makes sense because NO Admiral is going to ok Ensign Snuffleupagus and his 1st Officer Barney assignment to Captain the Enterprise – F.
I also read somewhere “Fleets” will have the ability to build and maintain shipyards and supporting to field newer and better starships. This also sounds acceptable to me since at some point everyone is going to want a refit, repair or brand new ship. That in its self will cause a nightmare in space around the ship yards especially if the collision system takes into account player vs. player contact. That also provides a health bit of diversions for people to do since I can only imagine the amount of effort its going to take to harvest the amount or materials its would take to field a function colony.
So all in all given what I know so far I think its going well and I can make sense of the reasons why. What do you think and why?
