I'm pretty sure this thread does not belong here.
I do have a mac but I can dual boot to XP to play this so why even bring this thread up at all?

Thanking Cryptic for not wasting their time? I dunno sems rather mean spirited and condescending
....but once you decided to bash MAC in the post, this thread just became useless flame bait.

LOL yeah lets focus on a platform that crashes and is virus filled and a pile of crap too boot, hmm my mac hasnt crashed.... ever...
i own both macs and pcs i like both for different things, but see how easy it is for the mac owners to bash your precious pc? this was a pretty sad attempt to start a flame war over computer prefference. if your gonna flame maybe you should go to the WoW forums?

Again I must be forced to educated.
Security - "mac has better security from virus's and spyware." Why because there are far fewer people who know how to program in the same language that the mac is built on than there is people who know how to code in windows (now c code). If 30 years ago MAC had become the world leader in computers it would be PC's that would be more secure because no one would know C code to program stuff able to affect windows.
So really the true answer is "no macs are not more secure than windows" but are less prone to attack.
and i repeat i was not making this post to insult anyone or ask for anyone's opinion. I was simply thanking cryptic.

It's possible, i haven't paid that much attecntion, but really it would makes sense if someone actually knew what they were doing and built a "mac virus" or what ever I mean how many anti-virus programs are there to protect macs.
Actually I looked it up , there are a few out there but from what i'm reading most "mac sales people" believe they are snake oil and meant just for companies to make a profit, no clue on the reality of who is right or wrong.

It's possible, i haven't paid that much attention, but really it would makes sense if someone actually knew what they were doing and built a "mac virus" or what ever I mean how many anti-virus programs are there to protect macs. There's a couple of anti-virus programs for Apple computers out there. If you want a look at Mac OS security, try SecureMac.com (http://www.securemac.com/).
There are a couple of reasons why we haven't seen a lot of viruses developed for the Mac OS. The first is that the Mac OS is based off Unix (same as Linux). I think that part speaks for itself. The second is that Apple has never had a huge market share so it's never presented a large target. Would you spend your time writing a virus that's only going to affect 10% (at best) of computers?

hm, i had several crashes with a mac when i was working at a office, i think about 3-4 times with an early version of adobes programs, and a complete freeze till i rebooted it the hardway..
so.. thats happening on both sides..
/ps: think that was an old powermac, but im not so much into apple, so i could be completly wrong about its hardware.

First let me say this. I don't like macs, I by far prefer pc's but I don't think it's fair to bash another platfor on a forum like this. I have both and I don't really use the mac for anything(it was given to me) but I think that mac users deserve to experience STO just as much as you do. as for trying not to flame I must say :::EPIC FAIL:::

If i was into making virus's and i could claim i made one that shut down even 5% let alone 10% it would be something to be considered an accomplishment. Thought on the flip side i'm sure you'd have the cops on your door.

Like the title says. Thank you to cryptic for not wasting their time and money is building a good game and then poring it to a PoS mac.
I don't want to point fingers or try to put words in your mouth, but if you think about it, the "PoS" comment could be taken as being intentionally inflamatory. That is supposing that PoS still means what I think it means. But I have been known to be wrong on occasion, (and by occasion, of course I mean usually) so if I have mistaken your intent I apologize. Not trying to be the board nanny or anything, I am new to posting here, but there isn't any reason why we can't express our opinions here without stepping on the toes of other people, right? :):)

Macs crash even the new ones. I'v had epic crashes worse then windows with a mac. A non responsive program in osx takes the whole os down with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqKNNLadj_M theres a video of people dealing with their mac Crashes. I've had 5 or 6 windows pcs and never had crashes as bad as those. At least when a Windows pc crashes I can open the task manager and close the program. I have to restart the entire pc when a mac program goes down.
Mac is no more inherently secure then windows is. Its based off the unix kernel which does have viruses and can be exploited. As has been stated before its not as prevalent because of the market share. just wait till Mac winds up with 25% or more of the market share. I bet if they do gain ground you'll see security problems on mac worse then windows who've had to deal with malware alot more then Apple has.

I have a Mac. And I'm not going to play this game, unless it's going to be better than excellent. Because only really good game can make me sacrifice 30-50 GB's of my internal Hard Drive. Nay, i can play the game only in home (I possess only a notebook, if you didn't guessed it yet) by installing Windows on external Hard Drive... Or i can buy a new computer only for this game, i am rich and stupid enough to do this, ain't i? Yea... But i am not going to do this, because i am an adept of Cult of Mac... And you ain't getting my money just yet...
P.S. Please, make this game for Mac OS 10, mkay?

Aren't Macs a little too fashion conscious?
When I heard that we were running OS X on regular PCs now, i was thinking, thank god, I hope people everywhere are running it in tall creme colored square box cases with big thumb screws and lots of empty drive bays.
... and my PC never crashes, but I do frequently sniff the exhaust to make sure everything is running OK
