I had a quick look around but couldn't see it and I don't remember reading it on the forum before: Ten Ton Hammer: Star Trek Online Jack Emmert Q&A from GenCon (http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/41253)

Cool, I hadn't read that one yet.
And he seems to give a pretty good answer in reference to the questions that some of us had about hand-crafted versus procedurally generated space:
You talked a lot about exploration; about discovering parts of the universe that maybe even other players have never seen before. Can you share a little bit about how this works?
We have a system that we are working on now that addresses creating and generating territory - boundless territory - for players to investigate. Maybe it’ll be inhabited, maybe it won’t.

Thanks for posting this, I hadn't seen it.
Travel times aren’t going to be a problem. You’ll get around pretty quick. We can’t do real time travel, obviously, We’ve got a couple other mechanisms to make sure that players are interacting. Obviously there are going to be starbases and space stations. There will be natural chokepoints because there will be obstacles in space just like anywhere else; places that ships really can’t get through. And so players will be pushed into a corridor, so players will still be running into one another.
Definitely when you go to a certain planet, it’s just you and your teammates beaming down to it.
I'd like to know more...these statements might have a dampening effect on the nature of strategic play in STO.

I hadn't read this before either, I hope we hear some more soon.
Most of my focus is on Champions. Our Executive Producer Craig Zinkievitch is doing the majority of Star Trek work. My work on STO is mostly support. We sat down, we came up with the initial vision, and now Craig owns that vision - it’s up to him to bring it alive. And so my job is to help as a resource; as an asset for him to use. So, he has me working on narrative and storyline.
hm, so how much is mr.zinkievitch into star trek as a fan? is he one of those who were sent out to watch the movies to know at bit about it at all? or is he one of those who reads everything about it, and plays his role out in his sparetime? or somewhere in between or elsewhere out of these regions?

From what Jack said previously, the entire team is detailed with reading the books and watching the various series and movies. I'd say that to have a position like Craig's, he'll be well versed in the lore.

I'm sure we'll hear more about them once they start posting the dev blogs.
