If the ship class you really want isnt in the release would it be possible to modify you ship to the point of making it look like the class you want? How addaptable will the modifications be? I understand from the interviews there is a certain amount of customization but can we get sub varients...ie the Steamrunner being a variant of the Defiant?

Not to be too nitpicky but Steamrunners are part of the same design line as the Sabre and Norway classes. The Defiant is a relativly unique design originaly used as a tactical testbed for antiborg technologies.

In addition to what Onibocho said above, Jack mentioned customization and configuration of ships. After watching the latest interview on MMORPG.com Click Here for Latest Interview (http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm?VIEW=videos&PLAY=1267&GAME=352&bhcp=1) It leads me to believe that quite a bit of customization will be available.

Thank you for the clarificatiion. I had been searching at the following link and mistook "like the Diefiant Class" to mean in the same line as.

Misinformation can be as helpful to the cause as the truth.

Because it seems as though the developers are trying to implement more limited customization options in the game (which I think is a good thing) it may be difficult to modify the appearance of a ship to resemble another type of ship.

Not to be too nitpicky but Steamrunners are part of the same design line as the Sabre and Norway classes. The Defiant is a relativly unique design originaly used as a tactical testbed for antiborg technologies.
"The Defiant-class starship, officially classified as an escort, began development in 2366 as a small, highly-powered, heavily-armed warship intended to defend the Federation against the Borg. The USS Defiant (NX-74205) was the first of what was to be a new Federation battle fleet being prepared to counter the Borg. Starfleet abandoned the project when the Borg threat became less urgent and design flaws turned up nearly destroying the Defiant during its initial shakedown cruise.

The Defiant prototype was pulled out of storage in 2371 when the Dominion threat emerged. After several upgrades by Operations Chief Miles O'Brien, the ship was deemed worthy of use and several more ships of the class were constructed."

This brings me back to my post of my disappointment in this creation. Because I am a HUGE ST Fan I will join and Hope that it is better than what I am getting from the forums and threads. When perpetual was creating it they had a FULL Grasp of what the StarTrek Fans wanted, I don't feel that Cryptic has an inkling of what we want and is trying to rush it out the door because it has been in production for so long.

When Perpetual was working on the game is moot. They're not.

And I think that Cryptic has every inkling of what I want. Please don't generalize. Also, you should keep in mind that Cryptic has only had the IP since January. The amount of development shown so far is nothing short of amazing.
