If they made us all start as cadets fresh out of the academy and had us move up all the way to captain through whatever advancement system they have, would you be upset? :D

No not at all. Before they announced the official info about STO I was really hoping that we'll all start as cadets on the Academy.

TBH no any MMO requires you to learn train and gather skills i feel you shuld start with a small 3-4 man shuttle to hopp abut strtships and planets to get up to your choosen proffesions then when you hit as certain lvl you haev to do a solo quests to gain skill to captain your own enterprise.

That way you get to learn about the game shape your destiny and wont have 10000000000000000000000 n00bs all screaming in chat iv'e crashed into a moon help :D so i would rather start fresh choose my path and gain skills.

aww dude, u have no idea, I touched on the academy in another thread, it wouldnt bother me if we could spend some gametime for training at the academy THEN move upward in rank.

I would prefer to start there in a relativly safe environment. However what about other races? Where will they start? Just curious. I guess the can have their versions of schools.

basicly, that is how i thought this game will turn out.
beeing at the academy, right before the exam, choosing the profession, doing a few things for tutorial reasons, then finish it, moving up a rank, with a first assignment and a small ship like a peregrine fighter /venture or norway/miranda class ship.

I think this is the only true way to do it, but as Jack Emmert said in vegas everyone will get a ship.

Hopefully we don't start off as real captains just the commander of our own smalll shuttle craft with maybe 1-2 crew. Maybe the first mission will be the Academy's final exam which will give us an idea of how the game works.

No, plus I am hoping it will be like this. IMO I think we all will start off in run-a-bouts or the delta flayer as a 1st ship, and go up from there. At least it would make since to start off like this. It would let you get use tot he controls, until you are ready to get a better ship with more functions.

Nope, whether I'm called Captain, Admiral or Ensign, as long as I have a ship and it doesn't even have to be big, I'm happy :D

I like the idea of starting in the academy, perhaps this can be a new player zone or something.

I would agree with starting at the academy. If anyone has ever played the game star trek elite force 2 i think (It has been a long time since I played it last) that you start out at the academy. It would make a great starter area and it does not make you sound like anything special in the tutorial (e.g. SWG). Of corse older players will be able to return to the academy to as it is very famous.:)

No I would prefer it that way. Need to learn the game, mingle with people at the Academy, sight-see etc. Sounds much more entertaining than other mmo tutorials. Might just be taught by some famous character from the Star Trek Universe to!
