One of the things I recall Jack mentioning during the webcast was that they'd release bits of information about what's happened in the past 30 years leading up to the time period we'll be experiencing in STO. I've been poking around a bit, hoping this isn't a redundant question. (I used the search, couldn't find any similar threads) The way he proposed this was something for us to go on until the game is actually released. (I'd give you the exact time in the webcast video, but I had a hard time finding that specific spot, it's in there though, I swear! :D)

I was just wondering if they'd started that yet, or if, like the game itself, it isn't finished and they can't give an exact time when those juicy tidbits of information will be released?

Again, if this is a redundant thread, I apologize in advance, I tried to find more information about the subject around the site, the forums, and the webcast itself, if this is still redundant, then my searching skills fail. X)

Well, as far as I'm concerned, there are no stupid questions, so don't worry.

The first timeline updates have not been published yet. As soon as they are, I'm sure you will see a lot of fanfare and dicussion about them.

Your best bet is to make sure you are subscribed to the newsletter (http://forums.startrekonline.com/profile.php?do=editpassword) and the RSS feed (http://www.startrekonline.com/frontpage/feed), so you can get official updates as they happen.

Ah, knew about the newsletter, but I didn't know about the RSS feed... I'm now subscribed to that as well, and even went so far as to put it on my desktop sidebar (probably the first time I've had a use for that particular part of Windows Vista)

Thanks for the reply and the info! :)

I would expect to see the first one when they get to about 30 months out, then we should see one every month up until release

I hope that this is not the case. 30 months from now puts it at almost 3 years. I imagine if they do montly they will release a few years at a time. I want them to some out so I can provide more in character content for my fleet.

Not to get people's hopes up, but 30 weeks after Champions Online comes out would put it around October/November of 2009....'Fall 2009' for the uninitiated, the theoretical date on the back of the Las Vegas t-shirts.

Hey what do you mean by “theoretical date”?
I haven’t seen the shirts so I was just wondering if you mean it’s actually worded that way or has a question mark or something along those lines. Does anyone have a scan of one or know where there are some Images?

The T-Shirts on the back state plainly "Coming Fall 2009". I have one of the shirts, but not near me at the moment.

One Cryptic developer also let it slip in an interview with Hailing Frequencies.

Oh, if only these boards weren't demonstrating with painful regularity how woefully inaccurate that statement is.

But no, not stupid in this particular instance. Timeline coming *soon*.

Awesome. I will say since there’s already 40 years of detailed writing to work from and it’s a studio that’s got 3 games under their belt it could be a much quicker build than people think. Take that and CBS wanting to fast track the game to ride the wave of hype from the movie coming out next year and it does make sense.

Having said that my hopes are now officially up and if the game doesn’t launch until 2013 or it comes out next year but seems rushed I’m blaming you personally Ltfngr. You’re now the hook I’m hanging all my hopes and expectations on. Looking forward to working with ya:cool:
