In regards to Picardo's character, the EMH had to evolve and he took on a 'life' of his own due to the circumstances in the Voyager series. He was allowed to grow as an individual. Will EMH's just be regular turn on turn off types with no life (since they would lack the circumstances that forced the Voyager EMH to exceed his programming) or will they to have a chance to be like him? I noticed in the latest webcast it was said holographic crewmen are possible so I'm guessing holograms will be useful in other areas of the ship though I guess what I'm asking is will some of the holograms have rights like we do as humans and just like the Voyager Doctor fought to have? I was very moved by the Doctor's fight for rights, then again his situation is different. He was 'just an emh' but needed to evolve. It's a kind of hard question to flesh out though some of you are getting what I mean thankfully.
I am really looking forward to running into the Voyager Doctor in STO, hopefully on Jupiter station - that place is one I'm so keen to visit!

I beleive they have said they are considering making the EMH's a npc you can choose to be part of your bridge crew.
We will see, I think it would be cool to be able to have an EMH on my bridge crew.
we need an emh as a backup plan :P

While I would love to see EXH (X being whatever function the hologram is supporting in the game) as part of my bridge crew, several problems come to mind, especially as Jack said there would be limitations.
Firstly the holo-emitter limitation. The EXH would not be able to participate in away missions because there would be no holo-emtters on what ever planet you go to. This may deprive your away team of needed skills because your expert in the field has to remain on ship.
Secondly, but also tied to the first, EXH's can be turned off or disrupted and can suddenly disappear if the power supply is interrupted. This would mean the loss of a crucial bridge member at the time when you can scarcely afford to lose one. Worse case scenario: You have a EEH (Emergency Engineering Hologram) as the chief engineer. Your ship takes a hit to the warp core and you lose power. Not only is your warp core breaching, but your best person to fix it has just gone offline due to the power interruption.

Im kinding of hoping for EMH and maybe as an addon to get for them the ECH (Emergency Command Hologram) program, im also hoping that with the time skip they've been able to reverse engineer the mobile emitter. Either that or like Prometheus, have holographic emitters all over the ship, this way hes limited to the ship but not limited to the Sickbay. Be a good idea to me as t hey want them limited but players want them, a neat compromise. My other question is can we get androids as well?

Hmm fascinating point you bring up Luminora. NPCs I think in the beginning should just be an EMH and not evolve though later on if an EMH is part of your bridge crew then yes it would be neat to see how him/her evolved as you progressed throughout the game. :)

Good points there; I had not thought of those two problems occurring.

The mobile emitter sounds good and I would suggest that it be the solution for the two problems stated earlier. It has a special power source and would continue to operate the EMH or ECH for whatever time necessary.
Thoughts?

I don't think Starfleet will do that. Remember how much they're against temporal paradoxes? It'd probably mean that the Doctor is allowed to keep his but they would not study/develop it yet.
Another way of thinking is that the effect of bringing things from the future into the past is already happening/has already happened. If this is the case, and Starfleet does begin working on a mobile emitter based on the 29th century design, it is probable that it took them until the 29th century to successfully design and construct one, therefore bringing it temporal sync.
Either way, it's unlikely that mobile emitters are commonplace in the Starfleet of the 25th century.

Well they cant escape the temporal paradox from the emitter anymore ayways. Remember the entire 1990s computer boom was reverse engineered from the temporal ship. At this point whos to say themobile mitters original origin was because it was reverse engineered by starfleet. Ahhh dont you just love temporal paradox.

It was in the Las Vegas interview I believe. I also seem to recall Jack saying that if they did they would probably have limits (i.e stuck on the ship i imagine due to no remote emitters).
I certainly hope it happens especially as we see precedents for EMH's having rights set during Voyager (Im thinking the story where he had to fight for the right to recall his own holo novel).
I would love to have a Holographic Doctor on my ship

After 30 years maybe the ECH is a standard as the EMH was.
Maybe whenever you are on an away mission especially if you have taken key bridge crew with you the ECH runs the ship while your away.
My memory is fuzzy but wasnt the mobile emitter designed by the 20th century guy with 29th century tech? and didnt he kinda throw it together quickly? To me that could mean the tech is invented much earlier then the 29th.
Maybe its like star trek IV with the transparent aluminum. Maybe the 25th century "Invented" them.
