First I like the idea that Star Trek has come out to the mmo playing field. I'm a little worried as on one has nailed down what people want in a game like this. Eve Online was neat but no feel of being among crew in a ship. In Eve Online you basically were the ship, like being Herby in space. "Beep Beep!"

My first questions are about the star ships and their classifications. Will there be true strengths and weaknesses between ship classifications and reasons to choose Destroyers and cruisers over battleships and dreadnoughts? Or is the progression just a pyramid and everyone at end game will have the same galaxy class star ship because it is the single most powerful ship in the fleet.

Secondly my more personal interest in this game and the deciding factor if it will keep me interested is. Do I have to be a captain? Can I take day off to wander around my friend’s ship and help his crew? Think SWG here for a moment, not on how bad it crashed and burned, but how on their expansion you could have friends come hang out on your yacht and could even take turns flying it around into combat as your friend hung out to chat on the couch in back while seeing everything happening outside the ship. Think Mass Effect where you had to walk though the ship to the airlock to exit it to the space station.

Lastly reflecting upon the last question, Will the Star Ships have a believable amount of deck content to explore? Can we walk to sick bay, engineering, or 10 forward and will there be enough halls and access ways to give the illusion that I am in a big ship? I'm sure many would love 1 click short cuts too.

I realize all this may be way ahead of the game right now but definitely something to think about.

Jack said in the webcast that boarding another player's ship would only be a social gameplay element. This most likely means you will not be able to man the controls of a friend's ship.

He did say they are trying to implement interiors of ships to some degree, Sickbay, Bridge, Engineering, and other major locations. You will also be able to customize the interior, though the complete aspect of that is not yet known.

Check out the official FAQ here: http://www.startrekonline.com/faq

And the unofficial FAQ here: http://sto-zone.com/unofficialFAQ.html

Welcome and feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

You will also be able to customize the interior? Huh?

I like the sound of that... It's like flying your house in EQ around.

Well galaxy isnt the most powerful class but thts not the point of this post. You can go to other ships and youre not really a captain. you justt command your own ship and yes you can go to other ships

At the debut, it was revealed that each player will "captain" their own vessel, but ranks would be separate and gained. Differentiated from rank would be what skills you choose to go into, such as science, security, medical, so each player can be unique in their skill sets.

No information has been revealed on how the ships will compare.
