Judging by the activity of these boards at this early in the games development it seems like the population numbers are going to be pretty impressive. Do you think the numbers will compete with WAR? I doubt any new game will pull the same numbers WoW pulls in, but you never know.

In my HONEST opinion i don't think STO will even top a quater of what WOW has...

But saying that the game WILL be alot better and will offer alot more...even more so if your a fan of Star Trek.
But then saying that STO will be HUGE!!!....and it's going to be the kind of game you stick to rather than get bored like what happens to most WOW players at some point.

My problem with WoW and other MMO's is the fact they are so depended upon for the upper tier gear to be effective. Skill and tactics were much less needed then getting the "uber" gear.

I don't mind quests, I don't mind raids, I don't mind PvP, I don't mind "grinding", but I do mind a game that REQUIRES that I must do all of those to get anything out of the game.

I'd say it depends heavily on how popular the new Trek movie becomes. If it succeeds in bringing more of an audience to the movie, chances are it'll bring more of an audience to ST:O. After all, some people are looking at the new movie as some sort of a "revival" for Star Trek.
