I am disappointed to hear that real players wont be able to play on the same crew, and i have alot of people saying its a big let down for the game, one of the main points about this game that i was really excited about was having a few people work together as a team aboard the same ship, i have played other games that have this feature and really enjoy the teamwork involved. i can understand that it might make manning a big ship hard at times, as most people have real life to deal with, but i have got a couple of idea's that could fix this problem;
Firstly, if we were able to have real player crews and someone playing an important role on the crew of a large ship had to go, an NPC could step up to fill the position on the bridge (like the extras do on the tv shows), this would allow players to crew huge ships and have alot of fun with it.
Secondly, all players could have thier own smaller ships, and work together to purchase a huge starship that the whole Guild / Fleet could man and complete harder missions as a team, this would allow for great guild / fleet events when there are lot of people on, and players can go there own way at times when the guild / fleet is less active.
Please Cryptic consider this idea, as i know there are many people who want to work on the same ship, and in my eyes, the Star Trek we all know and love wouldnt be the same, if it wasnt for the teamwork between the crew in the TV shows and films, imagine having a crew full of NPC robots on the Enterprise with 2008 AI technology, it wouldnt make for much of a show now would it.
