We I haven't seen a thread on this yet, so thought I'd start one on it now.

It seems that STO will be 3rd Person, but what is Star Trek (especially in the 2400's) without LCARS/Panels? Obviously panels would work +10 better in FPS, but here's my thought on things:

Small control panels, say for turbo lifts, if included, and maybe some bridge interface controls, could function by having some type of glowing outline around active/usable panels in which a user clicks on. Once clicked, it brings up a full screen version of that panel (or at least a pop-up window).... perhaps something more inline with the size of Windows' Calculator, where the mouse would act as the user's finger. Push the corresponding buttons, click a Done button or what ever, screen goes back to normal view/pop-up window closes, and the action occurs.

Just my idea on panels in STO!!

There is a post. http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=6644

I would love some sort of LCARS UI incorporation. This was probably the only selling point about PE's concept that was interesting.

Clever...

You could have a very clean UI, and when you hit the 'Action' key near a control panel, it pops up in a window on screen!
