I have always, always, always identified with Klingons, but when I play an RPG (any RPG) I always do the right thing, I'm always the super-nice guy, the ultra-good-guy and so on. So, in this vein, assuming there's any kind of role-play involved, I'll probably play Starfleet... although nothing's set in stone.

If I'm Federation then I'll likely be a scholar/diplomat style captain with a tactical first officer.

If I'm Klingon I'll be going tactical all the way and my FO would likely be engineering.

But, really... I have no idea.

Personally, I always wanted to be a federation captain because I've always liked the federation, now its not because i have a problem with the other races, its just that i'm more used to the federation. i like the ships and stuff, and besides, i cant wait to fly around in the enterprise.

I wouldn't get your hopes up about commanding the Enterprise... that would be a bit looking forward to playing as Superman when DCO comes out, or making a Spider-man clone in City of Heroes.

More to the point, it would be like trying to as Statesman in City of Heroes. Sorry, man, it's not going to happen.

Have to go with being a Tactical Captain with a Medical First Officer.

That way I can start the fight and leave the clean up to the other guy.

Crazyfist I would prefer if you don't derail my thread. If you want to have a player crew and they decide to implement it in the game good for you. That being said it wasn't the topic or theme of this thread. At least post what type of Captain you are planning to be to stay on topic.

I’m thinking a science or diplomatic background for my captain. I think those two appeal to me the most and will probably be useful with first contacts and exploration. As far as the xo I’m not really sure, but I’m sure what I’ll try and do is have my officers skills try to compliment one another.

If possible I will be playing each faction.

Federation - Stiff upper lip style captain, though maybe not a human.

Klingon - A little like Leif Erikson and Harold Hardrada, enjoying the thrill of discovery and conquest.

I want my character to have a strong predilection toward Science and Exploration if i decide to join the Federation faction. If I am a Klingon I think I'll lean toward Engineering cause I'll have a lot of battle damage to repair ALL THE TIME!

Assuming multiple character slots per account and it being OK to have both Federation and Klingon characters on the same account and server...

The Federation Captain will probably be from the Engineering Department with a Tactical background XO.

But, for those days when I get home from the office after a not so fun day at work...

The Klingon Captain will be Tactical background as well as the XO, because some days you just want to logon and blow stuff up. :)

I will most likely be a Federation Captain with a science background.
With all the space sims I've played, the sciences have always fascinated me as much as exploring the vast unknown. However I also have an aggressive flair. I wont attack without due reason and will avoid firing first if possible. I will though raise shields and charge weapons at the first sign of a threat. Personal experience has tought me that non-aggressive posturing doesn't always work, so I prefer to show that I'm prepared to defend myself.

Definately a tactical captain with a engineering first officer as I'm looking at more of a role as a soldier, rather than that of an diplomat or explorer, but there is always a time for everything.

I like this one being a spy captain would be very interesting. Steal a Bird of Prey and pretend you are a Klingon in their space.

I was thinking over my klingon if i was to be one.
I would be a old school Klingon Diplomat not the "Warrior path is great and makes you immortal" back when the diplomats and such castes were equal. First officer would be a scientific officer

Since I am named support and I intend to try a support class first my choices could very well be the following :

1) Scientist Captain + Archeology or Medical First Officer - Constantly researching stuff.

2) Engineering Captain + Medical First Officer - Mainly search and rescue. Locate other ships in need of aid or repair. Attend to injured if any are needed.

In all seriousness, I've always been a support type and enjoy the "healer" classes. Although I'm not exactly sure how that will work, I envision good ol' search and rescue missions with a "get things done" first officer.

As some others here have noted it depends on what the different paths unlock for the player. As a Worf fan I'd like to say tactical all the way but we'll see. Also what do u think Rikers path would be under this system?

More than likely I'll be a Federation Scholarly sort. I've actually had a character concept set up about a disgruntled linguist who believes the auto-translations of the day and age are killing language instead of allowing it to evolve, so he wants to explore unexplored sectors of the galaxy to meet new races and learn their languages before their language is added to the translator database (assuming there is one).

I imagine him as an elderly British chap who will often quote older British literary chaps.

Well first and foremost until the Romulans arrive, I want to be a Federation Captain (Romulan Alt when they arrive). I'll probably be an Engineering Captain as Ive always LOVED being an Engineer. My first officer will be a Shelby (Tactical). Cant wait! :D

So with the whole faq and everything looks like we get to chose a start to our career as "Captain".

So what type of captain will you be.

Also what type of first officer do you want (I'm sure you will be able to have custom officers).

Personally I want to be an Engineering Captain. That way when my Chief Engineer lies about time needed for repairs, I can laugh at him and tell him he isn't a miracle worker and to get it done.

As far as a first officer I want a more military minded officer you know someone who can take a hit and give it back 10 times as hard. Former security officers would be great for this.

Id be interested in seeing exactly how this is going to be implemented. exactly HOW MUCH is going to change based on the class we choose and how different will our game be. will we be doing different missions for different classes? or do we approach the same missions in different ways. theres so many possibilities, the same goes for our custom crew that we'll get to develop as our bridge crew over time.

I play all of the classes in MMOs for a little while to see what I have the most fun playing. My first character in WoW (to 60 - the level cap at the time) was a hunter, then I made a mage. In CoX, my only level 50 hero is a blaster (the grind in that game after level 30 makes rolling many up to max level not so much fun), but I have a level 50 mastermind on the villains side. In AoC, my highest level character is a Priest of Mitra because the new type of healing in that game was really fun and interesting to me (and it was great to play with my brother in PvP).

So I go for all kinds of different types of play and it differs with each game. I won't really know until I play.

I will be one that is like the ones we see in the tv series. I like to explore, fight, do diplomacy, etc. I'm hoping to do a bit of everything. I like to make money too.. lol Maybe I'll be Ferengi and memorize the Rules of Aquisition. I will probably lean heavy in combat abilities though.
