I’ve been looking in the forums, and I can’t believe no one has asked about how damage to your ship will be handled.

Will damage be localized to specific sections and systems when someone hits me, or will it be some sort of overall health system?

Also, on a related note, how much can my ship regenerate from engineering repairs before I absolutely have to go back to a star base to receive extensive hull repairs?

Personally, no matter how good my engineering crew is, it doesn’t seem too likely they could repair gaping holes in my hull without going back to base. Just wondering what other people would like to see implemented for this.

I don't really mind to much so long as it looks good and half the ship doesn't go missing I mean like get proper looking damage and not big blobs doted around your ship like in most game mmo or not.

I'd assume that you could repair as much as you like till your resources run out, I'm assuming they will put that into the game to, and I think serious hull damage like that would have to be taken to the repair dock, but then how did voyager get repaired after taking so many bad beatings.

I'd say a bridge commander type system would be a good idea, with systems being damaged depending on where the ship is hit (as well as an overall hull strength), and if a system takes too much damage you have to return to starbase for repairs

hum I'd say a bit better then starfleet command 3 at least please.

I also like the Bridge Commander system of being able to repair damaged systems on the fly but needing a Starbase to repair destroyed systems.

It would be cool to get out of a battle with a destroyed warp drive and have to call another player to tow you to a Starbase, although I could see that getting annoying after the first time. :p

If I am in a bad enough situation where I am losing large chunks of my ship, (according to the in game graphics) it would seem odd to me to have a previously blown up nacelle suddenly reappear on my ship as it is "repaired." I would much rather see a damage system implemented where when I get hit hard enough I can only repair to a certain point before I have to return to base or eventually get blown up. To me light skirmishes = easily repairable surface damage, but heavy fire-fights may lead to more extensive repairs that just can't be justified as being made during a battle (at the very least).

Also, we can only assume that Voyager must have been getting help\supplies from all these random people they kept running into. At least that is my theory on the matter.

Could handle it like this. If your warpdrive is destroyed your ship becomes "Disabled". You can have another player ship come by and "Send Engineering teams" and repair it enough to get you moving, which could be the equivelant of "Ressurection", or you can launch escape pods and "Contact the nearest Starbase" in which case you automatically transport to the nearest starbase with your ship repaired, credits deducted, and whatever Death Penalty they have in the game applied.

I hope that the ship damage will be much better than the ship damage in Star Trek Legacy.

Hope it will be a bit more realisitc with damage effects, scortch marks to the hull,
venting warp plasma etc.
