Freedom - how much?

I'm wondering how much do i choose what i do.
Can i go to engineering and shutdown and eject the core,
can i beam to other ships at will and travel on other players ships as a passenger and leave my own ship somewhere ordered to rendezvous at XXX coordinates
Can i just draw a phaser and shoot a wall conduit
Can i take the scanners and scan my bridge at will


How free will we be?

Im hoping for sandbox, don't think we will get it but I'm hoping. I want ultimate freedom!!!

I'd love to be given lots of freedom to explore my ship, experiment with its capabilities and play around with its functions at my own leisure. This doesn't really mean the game will be a sandbox though since progression will still probably require you to do missions, it just means that you'll be able to take a break from progression to do whatever you feel like doing, which is fine by me.

I don't mind having a semi-linear path of progression like World of Warcraft as long as I can take a break to do other stuff when I feel like doing something else.
