Ok this is my first thread so if this was done before, sry.

What kind of missions are you guys going to make/looking for

some ideas I have

1) Omega Particle, make it dynamic, they show up, you fix it.
2) Klingon or Romulan missions, like your a spy and your made to look like them to get info
3) Tribbles
4) I wana see Kirk, old school kirk, yes time travel.
5) A whole story arc based off of DS9 stuff, Bajor, prophets, Gamma Quad, all of it.

what else do you guys wana see.

how about going to earth and finding a delorean buried in the ground with marty mcflys skeleton in it..................no but seriously they should at least make one mission based off the old Trek 25th anniversary game where you have to investigate a damaged fed ship, beam over and the crew are all dead on to find pirates have taken control and are trying to steal it

I would like to see an emphasis on ship class and mission profile. Hopefully the AI Admirals will hand out assignments that really involve the mission profile of the ship. For example small ships like the Saber and Defiant Class ships supporting larger ships in a battle group during war or doing border patrol/escort duty during peace time. Heavy cruisers like Excelsior and Akira being given a variety of assignments since (presumably) ships of that size would be filling tthe workhorse role. The large explorers such as Ambassador, Nebula, Galaxy, and Soverign would be very interesting if they were assigned fringe areas away from the rest of the fleet where they have to fend for themselves more during peace time.

The old FASA Star Trek Roleplaying Game had some interesting divisions run by the Admirals such as Galaxy Exploration Command, Military Operations Command, and Colonial Operations Command. I would really be into picking a ship like an Intrepid or Excelsior/Akira and following behind the large Explorer ships for lots of planetside surveys and exploration. Throw in a few choice planets where the Heavy Cruisers have to call in a Nova Class ship for long term scientific study to keep it interesting. Then you could introduce Corps of Engineers and other roles in transporting colonists to their new home and building new cities on colony worlds, while the Military Operations Command patrols close to newly established colonies.

I'm not that interested in "leveling up" to something like a Soverign Class ship and I hope that won't be necessary to be a part of the STO universe. I'm quite happy with letting the Explorers do the star charting and some exploration and being in the first or second wave of light or heavy cruisers doing a majority of the solar system exploration. But I also want there to be a place for players that want combat as well as those who want to perform administrative tasks around the core worlds of the Federation.

I would be very, very happy with a quest line involving Section 31.

I want to see a large variety of mission types. Everything and more than what we saw in the TV shows. But something I want to see is some intilecual challenge. I want to have to figure some things out on my own, and not be pointed in the rite direction all of the time. I also want to see mutiple outcomes for each misssion, like the "choose your own adventure" books I use to read when I was a kid.

The Omega particle is too special to show up once in a while. From how its described in "Omega" (Voy) its extremely dangerous and the borg couldn't tame it and voyager had to destroy it as well. Use it too much and it loses its splendor and if someone fails the mission that entire sector of space would be decimated and unusable by cannon.

Ideally we see missions that at the heart are exploration and scientific in nature but involve light combat that is typically seen in TNG. Every so often, based on ship class as dezlock suggested, ships should encounter pure combat or tactical missions so as to spice things up. Hopefully these combat missions will be on a grander scale involving multiple captains (Quest sharing please?).

All-in-all missions hopefully stay true to the starfleet and federation mantra of seeking out new life not destroying it.

The old FASA Star Trek Roleplaying Game.

I'm glad someone else mentioned this..I was big into Star Trek RPG myself when that came out, as well as the old SFB :D

The Pen and Paper rpg had a great system of character development; you could be the "captain" but with a different focus, be it engineering, science, security, navigation..whatever..

I was immediately brought back to the old rpg when this was described in the webcast, and I wonder if they have used any of that material in their research. If not, someone needs to send it to them...is that stuff even around anymore?? lol

1) Love Missions. An alien female asks you, "Please, what is a kiss?". You must instruct her for the sake of good Federation/Alien relations. Try to rip your shirt a little.

2) Talk a super advanced computer and or robot into self destructing. Artificial intelligence in the future is deadly powerful...fortunately it can be confounded by simple logic traps that your average pre schooler could shrug off.

3)Make a speech about high minded Federation ideals, especially the Prime Directive, and yet interfere in their society anyway.

4) Bore your opponents to death. Make a cup of tea and go ON and ON about how advanced and enlightened humanity has become...try to marry it to some Ham fisted social commentary that would be blunt and melodramatic by Afterschool Special standards.

Just a few ideas so far.

Hunt down those dirty no good Romulans and rid the galaxy of them.

I was kinda surprised and then sad that the Romulan race was not going to be a playable race. Seems like the big three Empires in Star Trek have always been Federation, Klingon and Romulan.

Of course maybe they had to limit themselves otherwise they would never get anything out lol
