In Star Trek: Online when you get set up with your ship and crew what will keep them from resigning 10 minuets later? I'm a member of Star Wars Galaxies and when I invite someone to my group and they accept about 10 minuets later they resign from my group, I hope STO will not be like that. I hope that when someone joins your crew it's permanent until they submit a transfer order then it will be up to you if they get transferred or stay on your crew.

You didn't watch the webcast or even bothering looking at the forums did you.. hehehe
You ship will have NPC crew members and as far as I know they will not be programmed to resign unless you really suck at being a captain :)

The crew is NPCs. They cannot resign.

You will have a NPC crew. This is one of many reasons you will have an NPC crew and not a PC crew.
Please check the link in my sig and read over the list of what we know about the game. None of it is speculation it is all taken from interviews or articles.

As many poeple have already stated, your crew is built up of NPCs, so that realy wont be an issue.

Perhaps the OP is aware that his ability to command a starship is so lacking that his NPC crew will abandon ship?
I mean..he can't seriously have missed ALL the posts about player crews not being in the game and the demands that they be added or the fail is the suck...
Could he?

you can form Task forces with players so you can adventure or explore or do missions with other player captains but your Crew will always Be NPCs and you can bring them along on missions instead if you want.

Your crew are npcs. However, if they weren't, there's one way to keep everyone on my crew.

NPC = non player character. Not a real human. Simulated.

NPCs are characters that are controlled by the game itself. In the case of your crew, you will be able to issue orders to your NPCs, and they'll carry them out - but you won't be controlling them as directly as you control your own character.

Indeed!
You'll only need to worry about group members abandoning you after ten minutes when you want a second starship along. :D
