This would seriously help break the story up a little and allow for some fun!
Holmsian mysteries...
A bar scene with a beautiful woman in a red dress...
Perhaps even a superheroic combat mission *(grin)*
I think this would really add to the game!

I'd like to see the core game fleshed out and playable first before I stick myself in the holodeck.
although playing a game to escape from reality for a bit and then jumping into a holodeck to escape from that seems ironic :)
would be fun for sure. hopefully they have good things in mind for the holodeck.

Yeah it seems like a pretty obvious solution to repeatative gameplay. However Im sure its as difficult to implement as it is obvious. I want it.

I think we all know that in reality the Holodeck would be used for only one thing.
And this is a T rated game.
Just kidding. I look to the Holodeck mostly as a training tool...aside from the odd mission where of course the thing goes haywire and traps the crew in a dangerous scenario come to life.
You know...like every other episode of TNG...

Well, you're right. I should say to 'give a change of scenery/feel' as opposed to get away from the game.
I just think it's an important aspect they shouldn't overlook!

If my holodeck doesn't malfunction at least once, I will be a sad, sad panda.

Can't wait. My crew can squeeze in and immerse themselves in a Napoleonic Scrappy-Doo cartoon while I'm busy stocking up at the Orion colony.

I hope to god they do not include holodecks just because i am sick of the multiple requests for them here on the forums. I think if you guys ask enough for them, you may turn off the devs from the idea as much as you have me.
On a more technical note, sure there are a lot of things they can do with Holodecks, do we really need to beg for them?

The boards only been up for a week and a half and there are thousands of threads. Why would you expect a joining member to read them all? Just send him a link to another holodeck thread if youre that concerned about it.

I think really the holodecks should be available on start but as something used to teach you the game, something were you can't die, or you take very minimal damage, and if you flub the mission you still learn and get a raiting from it.

I love the idea of having Holodecks in the game it could open up so much gameplay scenarios, Dixon Hill anyone?

trying to follow the logic here. so if enough people demand something they are willing to purchase from a supplier, the best thing for the supplier to do is to ignore those people because they might get annoying
does not take a vulcan to see a flaw here
besides, anything worth doing is worth doing for money. rule #13
if fans of an idea simply remain quiet, I don't see how anyone can expect there to be much of a demand for it. just let people run on about what they want however they want. It's not that hard to avoid it with the speed of which this forum is moving anyway.
