Does anyone know what quadrants will be available when the game first comes out?

And if it's not all quadrants, would the expansions be opening up new quadrants for exploration?

Just curious if the Delta quadrant will be available from the get go and if you can choose what quadrant you start in.

I like the idea for expansions :)

obviously alpha and beta, and i figure gamma for the expansion when you can play dominion but as for delta i don't really know since they way voyager got there wasn't very reliable.

Yes in at least one interview Jack said it will only be a portion of the Alpha quad at launch.

He also made specific mention to Transwarp conduits too which as well all know go to all quadrants so te foundations will be there from the get go to introduce other quadrants fairly painlessly... well except for the fact the borg own the conduits. lo minor detail

Well, hopefully with an expansion you can start a new character right from the other quadrant so that you don't have to warp there (ie Alpha to Delta).

so how far can you go out with warp??

i dont want to take a transwarp conduit ...i want to get there by my self.. are we even allowed to? or would there be something stoping us from going out to fair?

i kind of want to get stuck in the Dalta Quadrant and get back by my self and repair the ship by my self..

you know?

You probably will be able to just start in that quadrant, as long as you're playing as a race that resides there. You might have to travel there if you're playing as another race though. But if there are transwarp conduits or something of that nature it might not take that long anyway, depending on how travel time works.

I suspect warp travel will be the standard means for travelling anywhere within a given quadrant and Transwarp conduits being the "fast" means of moving from one Quadrant to another.. but him mentioning the borg in the same conversation kind of implied in my mind that access to them wouldnt exactly be a simple matter? so quick and frequent movement between quadrants would probably be somewhat limited to a degree (all assumption based).

I would imagine that moving by warp between quadrants as with the actual series would be such an implausibly long affair as to be totally impractical to the point of unlikely. (voyager for example was state of the art when it got lost in the delta quadrant, and under warp it was looking at a 70 year+ journey back to the alpha quadrant and even they ended up using a borg tanswarp nexus to get back to Earth in thier own lifteimes in the end).

will this is STO traveling will go much faster... like to get to point a to point b in the tv show would take weeks or even months... but in STO could speed things up. as in geting to Alpha quardrant to Datla Quardrant would take 2 or 3 hours tops? if they allow us?

and from Earth to Klingon home world. i say 10 mins?

Id be surprised if in game it even takes that long. I imagine to go alpha to Gamma it will be quick for Federation (few second) warp to DS-9 and fly to Wormhole (couple of minutes) and then a few more seconds to traverse it through to the Gamma Quadrant with a nise wormhole visual playing in the meantime (either Fx or load screen). But I could be wrong.

Though I think in general moving from Quadrant to Quadrant will be by the conduits and not necessarily be easy to access despite being fast to use, but I guess only time will tell.

i want to have to wait to get where im going...i can put on warp speed and leave the bridge for 10 mins to do other things and come back right when i drop out of warp!...do things like.. get ready for mission and stuff

I was hoping someone would ask about travel time and distances at the reveal today, as that is one debate that has seemed to rage on these boards. I too am hoping that there is a feeling of expanse in the game universe, but not so much that it requires me to play for hours when I do get to play just so that I can get to a destination for a mission.

i think travel between systems won't be instant as being attacked during transit would probably be one of the main times to be attacked, raiders etc.
