What do you all think about the idea of in-game housing or building and operating your own space station or even terraforming or colonizing planets? Is it doable or does it make the game too complex? Certainly I think in-game housing should be allowed, but the latter two ideas may be more tricky.

Ever since my SWG days I've always been an advocate for player housing. About the terraforming who knows.
Personally I think that on major things like those if its not in yet, it probably won't make it. I'll be satisfied with my own quarters on my ship as long as we are able to place stuff in it.

Owning planets and space stations? You cant possibly be serious.
If they are going to have space ship interiors you should be allocated one room to store your rubbish in.
Although by the looks of it that wont be happening.

I always thought, like how PE had it, that player housing would be in the hub ships, starbases, and cities. And that guild could get their own hub and the guildies could put their housing there, if they wanted.

They did say we will have adventures on our own ships so having your own quarters on your ship is a distinct possibility.

Well, it would certainly be ambitious to implement a system of running your own space station or planet, but it's not outside the realm of possibility. I think it's the MMOG Horizons which allows you to build cities. I could be mistaken on which game it is, though, but there is an MMOG that allows players to build and run their own cities in addition to the regular soloing and grouping activities common of most MMOGs. A system of allowing the creation of small space stations wouldn't be hard to implement either.

PE's plan included housing on ships, starbases, space stations, and in planet cities. I doubt Crpytic will stray from that vision. The question I think is will there be housing on YOUR OWN SHIP.

I'd like to have my own quarters on my ship/on space stations, sure. I think that could potentially great.
Owning spacestations would be neat as well, although it might be a bit iffy... And Terraforming planets, while a nice idea, wouldn't be something I would expect players to be doing.

All of unsundry building and owning there own planets and space stations would be chaos, not to mention it would need alot of space. Having ONE building or room on a large space station run by NPCs would be alright, however, I'm still crossing my fingers for ship interiors and personnel quarters. Even though crossing fingers is illogical.

I think that's really what a lot of us are hoping for. The more personalized we can make our own things in any game the more people will like it.
Just the fact that housing on the ship would mean that there's some kind of interiors and that a friend *should* be able to come over to at least visit would be most welcome.

Will you kind of have you ship as you house/home in space but would be nice to have one in an outpost.

The more I can custom the better. Thats what I want from this game. We want to live in a star trek world doing whatever it is we want to do. I dont want to just pilot a ship and do space missions. I truly hope that wont be the case. Look forward to tomorrow when we learn more.

Yeah, I'd actually prefer one on a Starbase or city.

There was already one thread that discussed crew quarters, which would be the kind of housing we'd see in STO, assuming Cryptic designs it that way. But, to re-iterate what I said there, I think crew quarters are a great idea. They'd obviously be on the ship you're assigned, or base you start out in, whatever. And I'm all for being able to customize the quarters, as it shows off your own personality.

it would be cool if they let guilds (fleets?) have a space station to play with for all their ships. hopefully we will get more information soon, though cryptic can be cryptic unless they have it set in stone.
