With regarding Steam community download software, are there any plans to put the game directly on Steam for us who like to download and keep our games digitally?

I only say this because EVE Online has basically monopolized Steam and works out very well for them when they have an update to release.

Dext is right... regarding EVE... although this may be a possibility once STO has been released for awhile. Like allot of MMO's, once they've been on the market for x amount of time production of the boxed app becomes harder and harder to find or purchase, for various reasons. Once that time arrives STEAM may become a viable option.

I was the biggest steam hater, but they do create a distribution channel that benefits smaller companies ( a huge plus in my book ) ... and I've come around on a few issues... but I won't get into it because this is a STO thread, but there are huge pros and cons. Someday this authentication/user account issue will be safe and simple.

I have concern for games to be the same either way you purchase them... Too many times we have been burned because we bought one or the other. Especially in cases of a buggy Digital Distribution. In an MMO like STO it would be like a death blow.

I just can't easily get on the Steam User Account bandwagon, but if that's really what it takes to get the game in your hand and be able to play, I'm all for it. :)

I also see them doing the Box copes first just for the collector's Edition if they do one.(Most MMO do) If you got that you would won't to real items you would get with if

I'll do my best to keep this from deteriorating into a flame/rant post:

I don't mind digital downloads but I would prefer a physical copy of the game. That said, I absolutely loathe Steam as a service.

I doubt STO will end up on Steam. Cryptic has done just fine not putting any of their other MMOs on it so I don't see it being necessary to start. There might be a digital download option, but it will most likely have to come straight from this site or Cryptic's main site.
