It looks like they're aiming for a kind of "imitation of the tv show" look there, from what can be seen through the blur - the entire scene has an unmistakable TNG look, and not just in terms of the uniforms and ships. Given the game is set after the DS9/TNG-Film era, in which the uniforms were somewhat different, is this some kind of indication that we'll get different era uniforms to choose from, on top of whatever new stuff comes up?

Or is time travel involved? I mean, Galaxy vs. Borg cube brings a particular episode to mind...

I expect it's so lots of players can occupy it at once. The way they have characters positioned it looks more like a stage for a fight rather than a functional bridge of a ship, - scenery.

Eh. The pictures are nice, but i have a feeling that it is not a PSI, but in fact, just an away team mission. PE wasn't going to give us PSIs, but did plan to give us missions onboard other ships. like ive said on hailing frequency's boards and shoutbox (www.hailingfrequency.co.uk) i need to see clear and high quality in-game videos to make a decision on how i feel the game is doing.

also, there are 7 thousand shirts to give out. by last wednesday, they had already given out a thousand.

Most likely the first expansion will give us some sort of ship interiors to play around with, like guilds getting large exploration vessels that can hold tons of people like a guild hall in a normal game.

It would please the roleplayers as well as give them time to make the system work.

Not bad… blurry like others have said… perhaps a bit WOW’ish looking… which MAY not be a bad thing considering how successful WOW has been. Let’s just hope the game play isn’t as super simple as WOW is.

If I'd have to judge by that one, blurry low quality image it looks more like some kind of mission where you have to beam down to a Galaxy class starship to kill some hostage taking aliens, rather than a full fledged Galaxy class interior where you can operate all the stations and stuff.

Must admit, it looks awesome so far, its great to hear them talking about players walking in ther ships interiors too! The screenshots look 'just' like TNG era which doesn't really fall in line with the fact its based a generation or 2 'after' Picard, with that in mind I'm wondering if you have the ability to revisist old events either via timetravel or the holodeck (like Caverns of Time in WoW).

The comment about Cryptic geting no assets from PE is not correct though, the concept art on this site was created by PE over 2 years ago and the space station in the screenshots looks 'just' like how it looked in PE's version of the game when I saw it, sure it could be remodeled on the concept art, but then the concept art is still an assest.

Eitherway, looks like my days in WoW may be coming to an end soon :P

The more I think about it, and considering what Jack said about acquiring bigger and better NPC crews, it's sounding like your crew will act as a "buff" for lack of a better word.

You beam down, have your science, medical officer, etc. Now depending on who you lose during the mission could affect the buffs and abilities you have to complete it. Science officers might be able to detect weaknesses in enemies, open security-locked doors, etc. Medical officers could provide heals to you while in combat.

So the higher "level" you are, the better your crew is, the more advantages you have. Better heals, access to faster speeds, etc. which would tie into acquiring bigger and better ships.

Just a theory. But I think it's a cool idea. And it gets rid of the "spell" mentality.

There were 4 blurry screenshots supposedly taken on a cell phone from the convention that showed new shots of STO. I saw them in some other thread but don't recall where it was, but it did show the things he mentioned. Don't know what to believe though, I just know I've seen these screenshots he's referring too.

True, for all we can tell from that angle, those yellow uniforms might be them. The TNG-looking uniform might actually be a TNG uniform. Probably acquired from a mission, or some special event.

it looks like ur character (the captain) was wearing the TNG uniform, maybe its just a choice the player can make to "stand out" cause everyone els looked like they were wearing the Voyager/DS9 uniforms

I think the reason that the uniforms look so familiar as well as the ships is because they want to show us what they can do without revealing the new ships, uniforms, and weapons they have created for the game.

That way they don't show you something they decide to change later and we all freak out because it looks different then what they first showed, and they have more stuff to reveal later.

I bet most of the ships and uniforms in the game will be new and different. After all the Galaxy class will be pretty old during the time setting of STO. But the Excelsior class served for a very long time so I wouldn't be surprised to se a few Galaxy class around.

ya unfortuantly i don't think there will be classes to choose from for your character, but more so for your ship. like a medical, science, tactical, diplomatic, ect. ship. and progression gets you a biger ship, more crew, and probally more fame

Thats actually pretty consistent with the TNG enterprise Bridge. The purposely built it large to accommodate a lot of action and equipment in there. Definitely a Galaxy class ship...I recognize that carpet anywhere. Its like a flying living room.

i am starting to want my ol' Nebula heh also i hope they dont turn the smaller ships into really weak vessels so that as you advance and such you also get bigger ships which are far better (from taking more hits, more powerfull and more agile) compared to their old ship which was slower, less agile, less powerfull etc etc
