Then again if they wanted to be really cool, but utterly complicated, they could introduce a currency for each rate and allow a proper currency market... or maybe not ;)

I dont see that happening. It would be interesting, but with the possibility of dozens of races (non-playable) that could get a bit confusing. I think a standardized federation credit would be the way to go, and perhaps have a way to convert credits to latinum for races that dont accept the credits.

It is probably unlikely, but I think it would be neat for the economy to be a sort of hybrid that includes both prestige and something like latinum or credits. The prestige could be used for official Federation matters but the latinum could be required for purchasing more exotic items. I understand it is unlikely to happen, but I think this would make the economy very different from that in any other game.

I hope they have the ability to use Gold pressed Latinum. That should be the ultimate in capitalist currency in the galaxy and there should be some really exotic equipment to get a hold of that would require it use.
