i think this game should have a completley accesible interior in a ship such as jeffreys tubes and maintance hatches and things like that and a completely accesible computer systems such as conduits and replicators...etc and more but im to lazy to think of all the things that this game should have in it cause theirs just so many things that it should have..........what i dont want is for it to have everyone as a captain of their own ship like EVE because that takes the fun out of being a crew member on someones ship and have an important role such an engineer or security or medic

As I'm sure most everyone that responds will have some differences, my list is by no means a "better have this or I'm gone!"
Should have:
Massive guild features (pvp and pve, crafting and some type of guild hall, whether a starbase or a capital ship). The games I seem to last the longest in are the ones with lots of guild content. It creates a stronger community and makes people stick with the game for longer as even if they are tired of the game, if the guild is working to achieve stuff they'll stick around to help with that, hopefully giving STO time to add more content
Factions at war, faction points and rewards and penalties for same
It helps with the content and things to do. Don't just give us faction points for killing x mobs but give us negative faction with y mobs to the point of being KoS with them. This also opens up pvp opportunties. I'd like to see the possibility of two or more factions having a massive fleet battle to gain map territory like in Pirates of the Burning Sea which was the only thing in that game worth a crap (minus the open pvp red zones)
Group AND Solo friendly content
Plenty of content for all lvls (or skill areas) for both group and solo content is a must have for any successful mmo
Server Stability
Duh, memory leaks and game crashes must be crushed!! that's one of the biggest things killing AoC right now
Decent customer service
Less than 24 hour response time for a /petition that's the other big thing killing AoC but I hear they are improving
Full 3d space environment with collidable asteroids, nebulas that cause different effects, etc
Shouldn't have:
Any non-consensual pvp is a bad thing anyway you look at it (except for griefers in MOST cases) and will limit player base
Heavy death penalty this is a game killer for many
Forced grouping Needs to be casual as well as hardcore friendly...fine line to walk

I agree with the accesible interior. I doubt thier be able to include an actual true size ship, it would just be too much, but I'll bet they include jeffreys tubes to certain areas, crew courters, at least a few, main engineering, bridge (obviously), a ten forward of some sort, sick bay, and a few others.

I would like it to be more along the lines of Star Wars, CoX, and Crackdown where you get to develop your character within the universe.
Yes a ship would be ace, but to be honest other than a small ship where in the background is one person going to get a behemoth like a Vor'Cha or a Sovereign class starship? Plus having access to large ships will spoil the fun in many ways as you will face bigger and bigger challenges that would require a lot of time to resolve....
Or maybe I just have way too much on the go at the moment ;)

Most don't agree on this aspect, limited to no Guild features is prefered.

My wishes are pretty simple..
1. I want to train at Starfleet Academy
2. I want to work up through the ranks as part of a starship crew.
Yeah ok big asks lol..
I'll be happy with a working, stable and frequently updated Start Trek Online :)

Well I'm all for player ship interiors but I think having every Jeffreys tube mapped out is a bit much to ask. I would be more than satisfied if they at least had all of the key areas mapped out with some corridors, turbolifts and maybe a few jeffreys tubes mapped out to link them together.
I would also like to see at least 2 major opposing factions at launch with many sub-factions within each group. Multi-crew an option but not required to operate starships. Basically having an NPC crew for each ship that certain positions can be replaced with an actual player if the player captain chooses to do so. Also having the option for either a bridge view or an outside view during starship operations.
I would also very much like to see a skill based advancement system with professions instead of hard defined classes. This would allow a certain amount of cross profession skills that we all saw throughout the series's and the movies. I would like to also see a ranking system consisting of something like ranks Ensign through Fleet Admiral. This would define what types of ships you could acquire and maybe what missions are available to you. I would also like to see civilian professions available in each faction as well.
This is all I can think of at the moment. If I come up with more I'll either add to this post or post again.

I don't know as far as I can tell, you're the main one against guilds (if memory serves me right, don't feel like searching for the post). As I mentioned, it is what I want in the game that I posted, I won't pretend to speak for the majority of people here.
*SIGH*
Another one of these post? Aren't there about 500 of them going already?!?!

If you don't think he should have made the post, what are you doing here? Are we flexing our cyber muscles again (massive sarcasm).
I haven't seen a thread about this yet, but then again I haven't searched it. Just chill out a bit you know as well as i do there are going to be massive amounts of duplicate threads, if you think its a probelm no need to jump in, just report it. Let the mods decide.
Your mom is a nerf herder! *Shakes fist*
What do I expect in the game? Try reading the other 40 POPULAR threads going on! Oh wait... you never seen them on the top of the main page? With 20,000 views.... Hmmm...
What do I expect to see. A bunch of ****ed off and dissipointed Star Trek fans, or a bunch of happy fans... until the release, we'll never know.

Had a bad day or something??? Either participate in the thread or don't. Not trying to be insulting but you are coming across as just another troll. You've had some other posts that were pretty decent so I'll just assume you've had a bad day.

For one, I'd like to see graphics that aren't so cartoony, so far the ships look unoriginal and clunky. The latest NX design is a shameless Sovereign knockoff that makes me want to puke.
PvP questing as well as PvE/exploration questing, imo this is how the zones should work...
-Questing Zones: Within one's own faction space, should be consensual PvP only. (To satisfy PvE fans, not me..)
-Neutral Zones: Flagged upon entry and for 10mins after departure
-Neutral Zone Borders: Consensual PvP during the week, but PvP on weekends, station takeovers and shipyard assaults may begin. Each sector has a number of stations and shipyards, shipyards function as graveyards for the sector they occupy, where as stations represent hold over a sector. Once all stations are taken over, that sector belongs to the opposite faction. Rule of that sector can be contested until 12am server time sunday. Stations must be taken by player controlled boarding parties.
-Deep Space: Contested areas of the galaxy that are in a constant state of conflict. PvP
CHARACTER COMBAT
In the Las Vegas Webcast Jack Emmert said that away team PvP is going be fast past, weaving and dodging, firing your weapon or engaging in hand to hand combat. I hope it really is what he said it would be, I'm hoping that phasers/disruptors require us to aim at our targets like skilled players, as apposed to some outdated auto hit system like in WoW. The same would go for the weaving and dodging, it's up to the player to be skillful enough to evade incoming fire. As melee combat is a huge factor for Klingon fans,(or Kirk fans!) it too must be equally intense and exciting. Moves, combos, throws,Vulcan nerve pinch, sneak up stealth kills, Gorn biting, rifle smashing, Bat'leth... all that kind of stuff quests are greatly effected by mechanics, let's see STO have some, instead of the same old MMO mush. Objects being pushable, liftable, breakable, with each race having it's own methods of solving puzzles or winning battles.
The gamplay of Tomb Raider and Assassin's Creed, are great examples of how to make characters function both in PvP and PvE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGCfhBtW8Gw (Tomb Raider, great example of movement and interaction with the world.)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=iEdkDOIe8YM (Assassin's Creed, also great example of world interaction, includes breaking of objects)
I'd love to see players being able to interact with the environment based on their race and the abilities of that race. This vid is a great example of agility as well as being able to break portions of the environment, I figure stronger races can break and life larger objects, while smaller more agile races and perform maneuvers. Maybe not climbing walls, but many other cool functions could be made available.
Here are some examples of boarding party combat and questing combat.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UP9IBRkpNL8 (Ranged combat, hard to see the shots because of the quality, but it's easy to understand how well this would work)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWeiT...eature=related (Melee combat, just picture a Bat'leth doing this)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=qmHBQK...eature=related (Ship/station boarding parties)

One thing I want is going on a star base and do missions on a star base and just to hang out on a star base and see other player and just mess around.
Mini games would be fun.
There is probably more I can think of, but cant right now.
