In the show and movies Time travel was very possible and happened quite a bit (too much in the later series).

Would you like to see away missions or even space missions that took you back in time, to possibly the old west, or even to events that happened within the Star Trek Universe?

In my opinion Time Travel should be a very big End Game mission line. A multi part mission to fix the strands of time and stop a horrible fate for the galaxy, for example like the plot of first contact.

This is Star Trek, of course there will be some time travel missions.

Yes I would like to see some time traveling missions or events in this game. I would think that the best way to accomplish this would be by using instances. Although I'm usually not a big fan of instancing I would like it to be used for things like this. Time travel is as big a part of Star Trek as Tribbles and Klingons so it should be in the game most definitely.

yes and no

they should be very rare if that

could also use the holodeck for missions like when Moriaty tried taking over the Enterprise in TNG

Time travel was one of the things that drove me nuts in Star Trek... Ok, it can happen in the "Star Trek Universe" but it's impossible in ours... Time has no physical properties, in essence it doesn't even truly exist. It's just a measurement created by mankind to chronicle the events of our own existence. In my mind, Q makes more sense than time travel.

That being said, I'm sure we'll see some time travel missions and I'm sure they'll be fun. I'm not against time travel missions I just don't believe they're anything close to realistic. Though imo, they should definately be rare.

Absolutely yes 100% - there is a lot that Cryptic can do with time travel missions and they are ones that can really mess with your head lol.

Examples being missions that take you back to say ENT, TOS era (to cover those) In fact those could be instances initially but maybe additional content/expansion packs where you get to explore a lot more of the era.
I am also fond of ideas where say you have an anomaly/rift in space for example, and subsequently you take on a mission whereby you are taken back in time and by the end of the mission you have actually created that same anomaly from the start (much smaller in past) That is just a rough description but I think you get the idea :)

Nice way of thinking. But everything is possible, maybe time travel too..in future ofc

Simple NO, it was an over used, riducilous plot device that did not advance the story or the characters, besides the added costs to produce 1000's of"time" places would not be cost benificial for Cryptic.

No, no and no! Time travel makes everything way to complicated and btw: how should those missions look like. Kill all changelings before they can start the Dominion War?

They'd likely be something like "hey look, an anomoly. let's study it" and after that "oops, we went back in time, now what?" and the objectives would change to something about getting back to your own time.

But if the Devs would stick to cannon then you would have to be very careful not to change the timeline which would mean you'd have to be very careful about what you do and that does not sound like fun to me.

Nice way of thinking, but not everything is possible. Since time has no physical properties what so ever, there is nothing that can be changed or manipulated about it. Just like you can't make something out of nothing you can't manipulate or change what doesn't exist.

I remember some kind of "time police" or something in the Voyager series, who are watch the time change and try negate it...
So,maybe the "End Game" episode are erased, when Janeway are diseased the borg(because that doing lots and lots of changes do in that time )
(Sorry my bad english,i try my best :P)

To events that happened in the series would be cool; partaking in Wolf 359, the Battle of sector 001, First Contact, or being there when Voyager returned... and so on. Classic star trek moments.

But besides that, what about the temporal prime directive and so on?

But for these missions you could go to the Holodeck, so there's no real need for time travel.

No. Having a user-friendly holodeck to create your own missions/timelines should suffice. Last thing I need is a mission mimicking the episode of TOS where they go back to 1968 to "observe". Time travel is overused.

True, but if they were to have real time travel missions, it would be sweet if they included them; it would be more "real" knowing you were actually there through time travel, rather than in a holodeck.

I say yes...but only in very limited scope...you may have a time travel quest only every few months if that.....but the rare occasion it does happen...it would be fun.....less is more. :)

But if you go back to Wolf 359 you could be killed or assimilated and you'd have to start from scrap. I wouldn't want to do that.;)

The time travel missions should be for the HOLODECK, I don't want to see timetravel outside of it.

yeah im tending to agree with this statement

unless it has something to do with a big event type-thingy

Via the holodeck only, in the real game world their must be an absolute compelling plotline for it though

My favorite episodes of Star Trek revolve around time travel, so I absolutely want it to be in STO. Besides, time travel is so prevalent in Star Trek, how could Cryptic NOT put it in STO?

because it can screw up alot of things :p nevermind the fact a star trek series is actually better with the fewer time-travel stories :)

That's all opinion. You're just gonna be ****ed off when you see that STO actually has some time travel missions in it.

actually i wont be :) it would depend on how many there would be and if they are going towards the past, future or a mix of them

(holodeck for me is the best place for time-travel)

I think the Star Trek time travel episodes are brilliant, too many to mention in fact and I am suprised to hear that so many people are against it in all honesty. In addition, Star Trek 4 and 8 often quoted as 2 of the more popular movies involve time travel.

I would love to see time travel in ST:Online as part of certain missions/adventure packs, absolutely!

!

that is one of my favorite movies :D

not because of the time-travel but because it was full of action, had a sense that Picard and the Enterprise could actually lose and become stranded in the past but best of all it was a time-travel movie with the TNG cast who didnt do many time-travel stories during the series :)

Here are some TNG only episodes that come to my head (most notably some of these are considered more popular amongst fans) I cant remember the name of the first few though

1. Episode where Picard comes back in time through the shuttle disorientated and he takes a different route by staying on the Enterprise next time round
2. Episode where Q sends Picard back to his youth where he gets stabbed through the heart
3. Episode where Picard holidays on Risa and the Vorgons from the future have a part in it
4. Episode where the fake "historian" comes to witness an event (where he's really a 22nd inventor and stealing all the Enterprise equipment)
5. Yesterdays Enterprise - with Enterprise C
6. Cause and Effect - where they keep repeating themselves and Starship Boseman comes through
7. Times arrow - here they go back to 19th Century
8. All Good things - last episode

4. A Matter of Time

Sorry, I just know those episodes really well and wanted to give their titles.

Cheers! Yep I remember their names now aswell. I was just trying to get a list off the top of my head - so there may be more aswell from TNG that I have missed out.
If not, then I want a medal for getting all of them :D

YES! there are just so many more possibilities to expand on the current Star Trek lore by using timetravel so much so that I don't see how they could leave it out. How cool would it be to go back and assist in the battle of wolf 359 or help Captain Archer defeat the Xindi, or Captain Picard defeat the Borg in First contact. That would be Awesome!
