Music in game is as important as anything else for STO, and so I am curious what music the fans would recommend to the developers as "inspiration" for creating the musical score for Star Trek: Online.

I compiled a list of instrumental music that I think would provide for some good inspiration. These musical tracks tend to have an upbeat, heroic sort of tone. You'll also notice some of the tracks come from Star Trek itself.

Discuss!

My recommendations for musical "inspiration":

Autobots (Transformers)
Optimus (Transformers)
Return of the King (Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King)
Lighting the Beacons (Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King)
Men From The West (Lord of the Rings: Battle For Middle Earth II)
The Enterprise Refit (Star Trek: The Motion Picture)
Bird of Prey Decloaks (Star Trek III: The Search for Spock)
Red Alert (Star Trek: First Contact)
Main Theme From Nemesis (Star Trek: Nemesis)
Operation Husky (Medal of Honor: Airborne)
Roll Tide (Crimson Tide)
Finish the Fight (Halo 3) – Used in the E3 Game Trailer
Seasons of War (World of Warcraft) – Used in the Game Trailer
Stormwind (World of Warcraft)
Ironforge (World of Warcraft)
Legends of Azeroth (World of Warcraft)
Take Us Out (Rudy)
African Rundown (Casino Royale)
Anakin vs. Obi-wan (Star Wars: Episode III)
Battle of the Heroes (Star Wars: Episode III)
Imperial Attack (Star Wars: Episode IV)
Barbossa is Hungry (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl)
Drink Up Me Hearties Yo Ho (Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End)
The Mission Begins (Band of Brothers)
Band of Brothers Suite 1 (Band of Brothers)
Austria (Band of Brothers)
Hymn to the Fallen (Saving Private Ryan)
The Might of Rome (Gladiator)
Echoes of Atlantis (Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures)
Nighttime Journey Thru the Eiglophian Mountains (Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures)
Phlanax of Conquest (Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures)

i am highly interested in the music being made :)

and they could go with those ideas or just get in-touch with the people who have made previous ST music and ask them to make alot more :D

Technically Goldsmith's "Star Trek March" that you are speaking of is an embedded part of all the different movie intros such as Nemesis, Insurrection and First Contact.

But yes, lots of Trek fanfare music!

And if they omit the Klingon theme that was used in part of the music "Red Alert" then we should all go down to Cryptic Studios with painsticks and give the composer his/her Rite of Asencion!

:D

That should totally be in the character creation mix.

Ok, color me intrigued! What song represents the .01% you disliked? LOL

I'm gonna say it was "Take us out" from the movie Rudy, which would mean you are a Michigan, Purdue or USC fan and hate the Fightin Irish!

Goldsmith did quite a few, The Motion Picture, First Contact, Insurrection, Nemesis, plus TNG and Voyager series.....:)

Oh yeah, I will be personally offended if the haunting yet beautiful Klingon Love theme is not included as part of Klingon play.

No, thats just what I've always called the trademark Klingon music that he linked. The music that first appeared in ST:The Motion Picture, and went on to become sort of their "theme" music. Back when Klingons were cool, and hadnt become such complete PC wusses.

Anything that makes them think of FUN! game play, not stuff that makes them want to jump out their window from being depressed and overworked. ;)

What music I don't know but I thing they should have the TV shows an the movies from star trek playing so that they do not loose sight of what they are trying to make. Even may get new ideas to add to the game from them as they play.

I love all of Jerry Goldsmith's work and hope we will get a great soundtrack.

Some music I have been disappointed with has been the music for previous games such as Star Trek Armada and Star Trek Legacy/Encounters. The music in those games seems to be kind of repetitive and kind of blah. An example of a game that I think had a wonderful soundtrack (not a Star Trek game) is Kameo for the XBox 360. That game had a fun soundtrack.

I would like to have something that I would be singing in my head when I'm done playing the game. I just haven't gotten that with some of the other Star Trek games I have played.
