What are the odds this will make it in do you guys think?
I would love to see the nice fresh new paint on my ship ripped to hell with exposed decks hanging out by the end of a fight... a warp naccel blown off... Classic!

Personally, I would love if damage was show, it builds character, lol. But I want it to be at points of impact not, u keep hitting my nacelle and a tear shows up on my saucer.

VERY good point with the Points of impact, that is VERY important.

This would be awesome and hopefully it will look better than it did in ST: Legacy. Would be nice to be able to leave certain "scars" on the hull as a badge of honor of sorts.

i would like to see temp. battle damamge which goes away once you repair at a starbase and if your avatar takes any damage in fire fights on ships or ground you could potentially get scars from fire and such :)

Ooooo Scars are bad ass as well on the character, That would be sweet as well.
It would be strange if they would not use visible damage in this game i think! I mean it is something that will give you a great sence of immersion if you ask me!
I would like the damage to be, how do i put it different each time so somewhat dynamic!
Also inside your precious little star ship damage to systems should be visible and conduits either giving 'o sparks or downright exploding!

in battle alot of your system and such should be exploding alot from shot-circuits and damage recieved from battle :)
and also something with scars could be possible with the DS9 episode "the Seige of AR..." er..forgot the number >.< with the Starfleet Marines battle-worn, scarred and becoming mentally unstable

This has to happen. It just has to. I need to see huge sections missing, giant plasma vents, arcing electrical disruptions like in Wrath of Khan, all that.
Also, I really want to be able to fire torpedoes *through* ships, and out the other side, like has been shown in several movies and episodes.

I want to see the scale of damage the Enterprise E had in Nemesis now that looked excellent.
I do think that is will be in the game an to get it fixed you may need to go to like a ship base. But I would love to see it in game.

Yeah--if they are wanting to focus a lot on space combat then I'd say it's a given.

Legacy still has the best battle damage of any ST game but it could use improvements especially during the explosion of the ship i still remember the first time i saw a torpedo streak its way to one of my nacelle's i just kep think please miss pleas omg miss it didnt LOL but it looked AWSOME!!!

What i would also like to see is crew casualties as well. I'm not sure what cryptic has in store, but if there are ship interiors in battle it would be interesting if a player could be killed by being next to a hullbreach, or end up in sickbay of having a console blow up in ones face.
What would really be interesting though is if one could finish a major capital ship quickly by a swift strike.
Ship decloaks, fires a volley of torpedoes at the secondary hull and then blasts right in to the exposed warp core. Basicly like that.... something to move beyond the norm of hitpoints that have been a part of all the previous star trek games. WYSIWYG damage essentially.
And i cant agree with you J L Picard, modded bridge commander has by far the best damage effects of any trek game, specificly the NanoFX 2.0 Beta mod.

Klingon Academy had far better damage than legacy, and KA is a rather old game. Bridge commander also has far better damage. The ability to actually slice a ship in 2, with mods of course, take chunks out of saucers, etc. all more than legacy could do.

I agree battle damage, specifically at the specific point of impact should definitely be in the game. I definitely want to see real cinematic effects, not shields turning green, yellow, red then little sprite streamers erupting from my ship like Star Trek Armada 9 years ago.
Bring it on!
Oh and Scars persisting on characters if we so choose... :thumbsup:

Ooh, yeah...that too, but like in space. Not body parts or blood or anything...the game will certainly have a Teen rating...but just like crewmen floating in space, their faces frozen in grimacing death masks after being sucked out into the void...
You'll have to forgive me...Im starting to tear up a bit...

The new game Empire: Total War will be featuring sweet naval combat... Real-time damage models, different ammo having different effects, shooting below the waterline . . . looks like it will be awesome!
Of course, the game is set during the Age Of Sail. However, STO would do well to keep an eye on this game, and do something similar with starship combat.

I would advise to visit Risa more often if i may suggest just that! ;)
