View Full Version : Anyone else hoping for ship based player housing?

I for one am. I saw the possibilities of this in SWG and you know how good it could be in STO. I am hoping for some sort of guild tie in myself. Large guilds housed in Galaxy class ships, with their own amenities such as 10 forward and holodecks. Maybe even some tie ins to resource gathering and crafters located on research vessels to boost their skills.
Those are just my initial thoughts, but anyone else have some ideas here?:D

While it would be cool to have your quarters/housing located aboard the ship you're assigned to.. I'm not sure if that's something we are going to see on release.. it would be awesome, since all crew should have their own quarters aboard a starship.. so maybe we'll see something like it?..

I think that this is something we can look forward to as the game develops (I for one hope that there are "fleet-guilds" with ship housing). However, I think that if it does end up happening we'll see a gradual development in production. Maybe we'll see quarters and basic bridge functions first, possibly ten forward.
I think it would be great to have a full-fledged ship with departments that have to work together during PvP battles. Things like a functioning engineering department that actually has to work on things on the ship, a security team that can board other ships or defend their own during PvP battles, a science team that has to develop new technologies to make the ship run better or develop better weapons and defense systems, a medical department that has to treat wounded, a flight department that piloted shuttles or maneuvered the ship itself, and of course a command team or bridge team that controlled the operations on a ship.
However I also think that with this function, PvP can be taken beyond the conventional way of dealing with it to broaden the experience. Each fleet could be in competition with another over things like number of first contacts made, number of scientific discoveries made, how efficiently their ships run/how technologically advanced the ships are, number of Borg vessels destroyed, number of Omega particles destroyed, which ship is the Federation's flagship, the list could be endless!

I like the idea of personal housing, but at the quarter level aboard and such, I think that would be a tall order. But who knows? We'll all have to wait and see.

Id doubt they can be 100% customized and specific but i dont see any reason we can have basic templates

True. I'm still wondering if it will be a true RPG as it is. Guilds may not even be really relevant depending on the gameplay. I'm hoping for lots and lots of details. I think that's what has lacked the most in pretty much every Trek game that proceeded STO.

This is true, and Cryptic really hasn't released anything on the gameplay yet and probably won't before Aug. 10.
And this game WILL have to have a lot of details otherwise people are going to be profoundly disappointed.
