Are there any signature guidelines out there yet?

Things like max image size, file size, max number of lines of text,...

It's 500 characters (excluding markup code)

:D

Example of one that reaches the limit :

Star Trek nerds usually have some experience with making cool sig pics, I don't see why they're not allowed here. Maybe they'll change that soon.

Thanks for the info.

Then I just won't bother with a graphical sig. :)

The first user to reach 100 posts on the first day of this forums opening.

Yay, we have the first forum troll! Now how many of those 300 posts have any substance to them?

Makes browsing a lot faster not to have 50,000 different pictures load every single time you view any page....

Indeed. I know that, in the online communities I am involved with, if images are allowed, they typically have pixel size and file size requirements. This helps to cut down on load time for even our rare dial-up users when they're viewing our forums.

even if images were allowed here, then you still would not have to wait forever for a page to load. you have the option to turn off sigs if you want.

As long as the file size is kept at a reasonable value there is no problem.

From experience 100kb is not that bad.
And allows for nice 420x120 images in png format, with fancy transparency. :)

But if that's still too much of a problem limiting down to 50k shouldn't be that much of a problem. :P

And that's another quite good point. :)
