As is to be expected with the launch of a forum for a well-anticipated game, this forum has exploded with activity. Subforums are reaching into the 10-20 page range already, making it nigh impossible for everything to be kept organized, and all material on a subject easily accessible.
If more subforums were added, the flow of ideas would be smoother, and repeating topics would be cut down a significant amount.

Example Setup:

News
Federation News Network

Information and Discussion
ST:O Discussion (Talk about what we know about the game)

Suggestions/Requests (Give suggestions and, when/if the beta starts feedback)

Dev Tracker (This annoyed me from the start, I've always liked these sort of links at the bottom)

Player to Player
Ten Forward (Perhaps delete old topics automatically?)

Fleet Registration Station (Potentially broken down into more specific categories?)
--Roleplay
--Migration from other games/groups
--Country/Language Specific Groups

Holodeck (One of the most chaotic of the forums, definitely should be streamlined)
--Fan Art
--Fan Stories/Fanfics
--Fan Creations Help (Get help with one of your creations)

Star Trek Universe
--General Trek Discussion
--TV Shows
--Films
--Books
--Games
--Other

General
--Forum Discussion (Forum Features/Events/etc posted and discussed here)
--General Chat/Off Topic (Forum Games and world news here)
---TV, Music, Movies, Books, Media
---Video Games
---Everything Else

If anyone has any suggestions/concerns that have to deal with this topic, please don't hesitate to post.

Quick bump before I hit the rack. Unless bumps are against the rules, in which case I didn't do it.

I'll pass on your suggestions. I hate when forums have 10,000 different subforums for lame things like "---TV, Music, Movies, Books, Media". One section for all things Star Trek and one for all things not is more than adequate. It's easy to spot the more popular posts and there is less rummaging around.

The forum JUST opened last night, there's inevitably gonna be an information overload. It'll slow down within the next few weeks.

I would like a Games sub forum for 3 word story games and all that.

It would defintely make the forums easier to view if we had structured sub-forums.

cani just say that these are the boards for the online game not the new official star trek forums, most of those dont even need to be here! i mean virtually all that has been listed under "general" can already be discussed in this here board!

I agree with the OP that this is needed.

With so many people online in the forums, topics scroll by too quickly and topics are being posted in multiple threads because folks cannot see the previous thread, posted 10 minutes prior, that scrolls away.

The forum JUST opened last night, there's inevitably gonna be an information overload. It'll slow down within the next few weeks.

All forums have to evolve over time. What few forums I've been involved with, both as casual user and moderator, have grown and evolved as time goes by. This is a brand new forum. Once things get going and the administrators have a chance to see what sections are busy and what not so much, they will I'm sure be changing and adding things down the road.

But... its always a good idea to post ideas for the powers that be to see as a way of communicating with them! By putting your ideas out there, theres a chance changes can be made based on what members want.
