Echo Fleet

Star Trek: Echoes (http://www.stechoes.com), a PBeM and role playing community built around Star Trek, is joining the ranks of the Star Trek: Online Fleets. Comprised of Trek fans, artists, writers and developers, Star Trek: Echoes is pledged to bring our usual high standard for compelling role playing to the STO Universe. To that end, members of Echoes are forming: Echo Fleet, an organization for role play heavy players to join together, play, explore and fight as members of the United Federation of Planets Starfleet.

For like-minded individuals who are looking not just for grinding levels, but embrace the unique role playing opportunities that the MMORPG medium provides, Echo Fleet is going to be the ultimate role playing centric fleet in the game.

Helm has signaled they are ready to push away. There's a big galaxy out there, what adventure are you going to tell?

I can't wait for STO to start so Echo Fleet can head out there.

Hopefully the game sill be made with roleplaying in mind. But if not, we'll find a way to make it work.

I would hope that, at its most basic, that it would have two server options:


PvE
RP


Depending on the level of PVP, if there is PVP, that would add a third server flavor. If the servers are sorted on that model, Echo Fleet will be participating on a RP server.

ill join if my fleet doesnt work out. but one question. do you have to serve on someone elses ship or can I command my own? cause my rl friend is getting STO also and he wants to be my 1st officer.

Yeah, I wish we had more info, but looks like it won't be a true RPG. Guess we just have to wait and see.

oh i mean the fleet(guild) not the game. mose sites ive seen you join a ship and the site has like 3 ships....and you have to be helmsman or something...which i find unfair. the more captains the more ships the bigger the fleet.

At this point, we'll make the decision on either:
Everyone gets a ship
Everyone serves on a ship


Based on future developments and information released by Cryptic. Ultimately, we are going to be a RP focused community group. But, something to keep in mind is that current descriptions seem to indicate everyone will get a ship - if that's the way it is, that will be the way it goes. We certainly wouldn't want to deny someone access to a key feature of the game strictly for RP purposes :D

Yeah, except every ship name has to have the word "Panda" and or "Chocolate" somewhere in it ;)
