A fleet for the Federation Sim Fleet (FSF), FSF & non-FSF players are welcome! Check out our website at http://www.sb254.com if you'd like more info on the FSF.

Once STO launches, we will be looking to incorporate the online universe into our structure of games where applicable!

Just a question:

(This is Jay_Anderson by the way, from the website) I just wanted to know, if we have a seperate sim from FSF, but haven't yet had the chance to get it approved through FSF, can it still join your fleet when ST:O launches?

I think it would be awesome to have all the ships and crew registered to ST:O (those that can) and have live simulations and live missions. I would do that in a heartbeat.

Well, I don't even think we were looking at this fleet as containing FSF sims. This fleet is just for the purpose of organizing players mainly from the FSF. Other players are most certainly welcome, of course. :)

I figure this fleet is for organizing FSF players, but may very well be a jumping off point for a sim or two that ends up in the FSF as well. But really, we will need to wait and see exactly how the game develops before we can really even consider those kinds of questions. This may end up being something totally new & unique for the FSF.

And yes, welcome Pounce! I am the CO of SFOL, and remember when the Trafalgar was started up in "Teen Fleet". :)

Even if we include STO into FSF simming, the FSF group here would be more for gaming and not simming, I'd think. This is a community group.

But, who's to say that a fleet can't be made up of a couple of "sim" ships, as well as anyone else who just wants to join in. After all, I assume fleets are going to be to help each other, and that does not have to be exclusive to just the "pure" gamers in the group. :)

Yeah a lot of it is going to be based around the gameplay. But regardless I think there's a way to work around the gameplay.

1) If it's like simming as in not everyone in game is a captain of their own starship then a couple of starships could be started and formed into a Fleet both here and at FSF. Storylines and such could be worked around the STO plots.
2) If STO makes everyone their own captain it would add an interesting dynamic. Instead of episodic sims of a crew on a starship. It could be episodic sims of the various captains working as a joint taskforce and such. But message boards could be used and other STO/FSF players could play roles on other starships.
Hrm that sounds awkward. So I'll try to explain better. Hawg and I are captains of our own starships in STO. But to increase the story depth on a messageboard somewhere I also play the part of his Ops officer.

Just thoughts.

Iif Cryptic keeps up with the way Perpetual was supposedly gonna do it, not everyone will be a Captain. But it was never clear (at least from what I read) exactly how they were going to do that. Some people will be able to work themselves up to Captain status, then crews would join in. Just need specifics to know how to work it for what we may or may not want to do.

I do hope you REALLY have to earn the Captain rank. It is definitely something that belongs to someone that deserves it.

Well, looks like everyone starts as a Captain now. Too bad, as I was really looking forward to serving as an Ensign on a Starship with other people. :'(

Yeah, I am looking forward to seeing how this works. But frankly, I may not want to pay to play if the game concept has changed as much as it sounds like it has. :confused:

I'm not giving up!!!!! :P I am going to try and remain optimistic and hope that this game is as good as I hope it will be. I have never, EVER paid monthly for a MMO, so this will likely be my first (assuming they are going to do the monthly fee thing). I just want to get my money's worth!
