Our First Mission will take us to Tzenkethi space, where decades of silence ends. Losing contact with one of our boarder patrols begins to raise alarm onboard Starbase 621. The Starbase manager ( I assume that who runs them) has managed to relay a distress call from the USS Cassiopia, to our two ship fleet sitting around the Trill homeword.
The distress call, though pretty garbled, said:
"Help us!.........Starfleet........Lost power, we can't get anything.........line......Breen weapon..."
Has The Tzenkethi Coalition been calling on The Breen Confederacy for weapon technology?
They must have modified their weapons since the Dominion war, making them full effective against us. But it is not fully clear weather The Breen are helping the Tzenkethi.

Ops is kind of the same as a science officer. I decided that a medical officer wouldn't be suitable for an RPG role play.
If you're asking then I might include medical and science officers but we've been getting so few requests, I'm just trying to keep it simple.

As it stands today role play will be forum based, on our own servers & site.

The site : http://gbfleet.pioneerx.co.uk is now online but with little actualy content. You will find the current crew manifests on there too. There is a link to the forum in the menu bar of the site.
I am however still working onthe look of the site a little as I want to allign it more to the look of the forums (which was completed early this morning). Therefore please expect the site to change a little.

The forum : http://gbfleet.pioneerx.co.uk/forums is now open for registration. Once registered and approved you will assigned your rank and ship (as per the crew manifests, this will give you access to the forums as you need. Missions will begin in your relevent ship forum once the crews are assembled.


If you have any comments, questions, ideas for the site or forum don be shy drop me a PM here or on our own forums and I will be happy to take a look.

Hello, I would be interested in joining your fleet "if you will have me" but I do not like the sound of one thing, HMS "shipname" and HMS "other shipname" I am a HUGE fan of the trek and would like to keep the USS.

Also my understandings of having a British fleet for the people of this world that reside in the UK or close so they can be on at the same time. and not like in so many MMOPG's having to stay up for 03;00 "UK TIME" to help out other guild members.

We prefer to keep HMS to maintain our nationality. Since USS is American of Earth it would be safe to assume that other ships with a mostly single species or nation crew, would have their own thing going on.

For example: a starship with a mostly Bajorian crew would concider(sp) HKS (His/her Kai's Ship). Since the Federation is based on freedom, it would be respectful to show a little tradition here and there.

It may have been founded in America but that doesn't mean it's American. In fact, the Federation is baced on many cultures: American, British, Russian, Vulcan etc.
Edit: Oh, I see your point, United Star Ship is kind of anonymous and gray to me. if the Swedish are doing it why not us?

If Cryptic stay true to the orginal ideal then there will be a single server for all. However this is very hard for something so popular........just take a look at EVE-Online's server specs and you begin to see what a monster would be needed to run a game which would have such a MASS appeal as STO. If cryptic do decide to shard the game then as a fleet we will obviously look for a server that suits us best.

Regarding a simultanous release......well it damn well should be, but I have no information on that one. The sweepsake is US only, but this would be due to compitition rules variying from county to county so I wouldnt take that as a sign they will do a US launch rather than worldwide. The only reason I can think of to have a non-worldwide launch would be to control the amount of players that desend onthe server from day 1, but even that is hard to do. I for one will be in-game even if the release is US only, as there are ways to get the software and even a POP (point of presence) exit point in the US despite being UK based ;)

Hey im with you mate, its far too soon to name a ship and give it a number, and with the crew and there rolls its looking like itl be a npc crew only, with only a small chance that itl be ncp/player crew.
Let the game develop more, then we will be in a far better place to organise a fleet of ships and possably crews.

Gents. There are essetially two sides to the 'fleet', there is a generally gathering of people from the UK in anticpation of forming a group inside the STO game when finally released. The second is the Role Play side. There is a group within the fleet that are role players and will be using a section of the GBF forum (the place for GBF people to hang out, share stuff and generally chat) that is designed for this role play function. For the role players there are ships assigned and a mission story line started, so ships, names, positions all have to exist for them to participate in the storeline that will play out on the RP side of the forum.

I would be fairly likely that Klingons would serve in the federation, look at Worf! Not only does he serve the federation but he grew up in Russia!

However information or other stuf may come at a price.

Also for example if a conflict if interests were to occur as the first too factions that will be payable in the games launch are the Klingons and the Federation there will likely be conflict .

So if there came a point were I had to chosse I could always role a dice or flip a coin or something.

I also recently thought to mysel I quite fancy being a Klingon wepones dealer if such a thing is possible.

Its seems from what I have read on Gamespy when someone from Star Trek Online was talking about the game it is mention that we will all have acess to transwarp condut technology to help move around the game.

CBS or Paramount are going to advance the storyline and move forward [in ways that] might be different from what we do. And that's OK. This is our storyline, and we're doing our best to keep it as faithful as possible and resonate as much as possible with the Star Trek universe that everybody loves.

I find this comment rather "un-British." Our wonderful country is renowned throughout the world as being a society based upon tolerance, liberty and acceptance of new cultures joining. What truly make us British is NOT where we were born but if we uphold these values. Also, being born in England make one "English" as well as being British. Likewise, being born in in Wales, Welsh and British and Scotland, Scottish and British.

I am born and bred British, caucasian English to be specific, despite the name (it's a common gaming pseudonym I use to get me into character). Is this fleet stepping off on the wrong foot already? Are our boundaries already being set? Are we heading for ultimate destruction? Sort it out people.

I am born and bred British, caucasian English to be specific, despite the name (it's a common gaming pseudonym I use to get me into character). Is this fleet stepping off on the wrong foot already? Are our boundaries already being set? Are we heading for ultimate destruction? Sort it out people.

I'm pretty sure that not what he meant. I do that all the time. It was fairly common a few decades back to refer to the entire union as England (ouch!) untill Scottish nationalism kicked in.
I hear people still do it.

Um, that would be the Commonwealth of Nations, if I'm reading my British History correctly? I'm starting to think that the U.S. breaking away from Great Britain might have been a bad idea. After all, we're raising our own taxes far higher than Great Britain ever did.

I'm from the Lone Star Fleet, and our Ambassador I'm sure will be making rounds, but if you all are Starfleet, as I'm assuming you are (despite the HMS designators, which I do understand) then I would like to say, as a Great Admirer and with respect to all British Forces in the World, that you are always welcome in Texas.

As the orginal designer of the GBF website, forums, etc....I was sad to see that no one is visiting it recently. I have not heard from the GBF leader in quite a while. However I will personally take ownership of GBF and mount a resurection, but not in the forum based RPG form. I found I'm not a big fan of this typoe of RPG element myself and if I'm an to head up the fleet then I would like it to be more a gathering of players than an RPG game in it's own right

However that being said GBF will be a STO fleet and will remain on it's current website and forums @ http://gbfleet.pioneerx.co.uk but will be looking at upgrading the hosting onto one of my new dedicated servers at some point to increase it's speed and adding fleet management functionality.
