Will characters, events, etc. from Peter David's New Frontier series be worked into Star Trek Online? That series is my absolute favorite.

Doubt it JSM, chances are there'll be hardly any characters from any form of startrek cannon

However, they are reading all the soft canon (ie the books) and will probably get some ideas. So... just make the characters when you log in. :D
